Do you guys think WC these is worth the money? I hear Danger Den is going to be selling theirs in couple weeks @ a cost of $150 per block... I dont know if I would overclock them... only because I have never done any kind of OCing. I just want to know if spending another $300 is going to make any big differance.

HOLY CRAP BATMAN!! so buying 2 of them would be like buying a another card... hmmmmmm maybe I need to stick to air lol
I would definitely stick to air, that is a lot of money to spend if your not even going to push the card any further.
Spend the money elsewhere or save it!
I just realized that the pic they show for the 3870 is not the X2, so after buying 2 MCW60's I may as well wait for the full blocks and spend the $150
The good thing about MCW60 are they can fit on any card. So lets say in future you plan to buy non X2 cards 2 of them and run in Crossfire or SLI config. Then you don;t have to buy any thing MCW60 will work. If you buy X2 block it will only work with X2 type of cards.

Exactly, I bought the MCW60 WAY back when they first came out and put it on my 7800GT. Now I just upgraded to the 8800GT and the only thing I needed were some additional heatsinks for the mosfets. And I only paid like 50 for it where the full cover 7800GT blocks were like 90+. Now I don't have to buy a new block for the 8800GT, more monies for a 45nm quad!

I've got a couple of MCW60's on 7900gt SLI (or at least it was SLI until one of the cards failed). My plan was to get a 3870 with the reference cooler, replace the GPU heatsink with the MCW60, then Dremel/chop up the reference shroud to allow the tubing out of there. My hope is that everything will fit nicely and I can run the stock fan at low RPM to keep airflow over the memory and Vreg heatsinks.
Has anyone tried this yet? Or shall I keep people posted on how it goes...
