3870 X2 Issue

I have no clue what the deal is but Im running a single 3870 X2 with the lastest drivers and when I start up COD 4 I get this weird screen drop down. Kinda hard to explain... but if anyone remembers the old TVs where you could control horizontal and vertical and if ya gave it to much horizantal ya would see the line come down from top to bottom along with the screen... so ya see the screen for a split second and then ya see a horizontal line and the screen drop and then it seems normal. Also noticed that sometimes the game would load and be really choppy and would have to reload a few times for it to stop... I have a QX9650 on a Maximus Formula and 2x4GB of Corsair Dominator PC8500 all running at stock speeds.
 
So not one person having this issue or has a clue as to what could be causing it? I also just noticed its only happening in XP. Im dual booting and when I go into Vista 64 w/SP1 its not doing this. XP has all updated drivers, so really has me stumped as to why its not working properly. I even reinstalled the 8.3 drivers and its still doing it.
 
Maxx - I'm not trying to cause FUD here, but my Visiontek 3870X2 had the same issue when starting up a game... This issue was then followed up by horizontal lines across the screen and general choppiness like you have mentioned.

I temporarily fixed it by switching to windowed mode - which Pestilence from this forum mentioned turned off crossfire mode. I decided after 8.3 failed to correct the issue to RMA the card back to Visiontek.

The card failed their tests on day one - hardware issue. They are shipping me a replacement card today. See if disabling crossfire or going windowed corrects your problem.

It sounds an awful lot like what my card was doing - and I have told you the result of that. Otherwise, keep looking into it - could be something else. Hope this helps a little.

You dont have a clue maybe, I dont know what gives you the idea that you can speak for me. This issue seems to be common, and 8.3 doesnt work as well in xp as it does in vista, switching to 8.2 have solved this problem for some people.
 
Well 8.2 does the same thing and I know its not a hardware issue or it would do it in Vista... but runs awesome there, so it looks like Im gonna be forced to use Vista as my gaming OS.

I didnt speak for you, I spoke to you. And, as you can see, the OP said going back to 8.2 didnt help any. So you still standing there, holding your wanker, wishing something would happen and you still dont know what to do.

I am just surprised you didnt tell him the reformat first, its what people with little knowledge usually tell others when they want to sound like they know what they are talking about but are really just posing...

Well at least Im trying to help, not holding my wanker (if you have one), hoping it doesnt work so I can come back and shove it in this guys face since I have no life. I havent seen you offer any valuable advice, so why not just gtfo.
 
No disrespect Comte but I have to agree with Pilot53... at least he came in here and helped me by giving me a single step to try and resolve my problem. All 3 posts from you contained useless and ignorant comments rather then helpful information to reslove my problem.
 
Hey try this....


Uninstall the 8.3 everything....

Then Install 8.2......

Now uninstall 8.2 DISPLAYDRIVER only and install the Display Driver from your 3870x2 CD....

The origanal 8.1 release driver is the only thing you will install...

When promted click Custom install and choose Display driver only...Let it do its thing...When done reboot...

After your backin windows you will have no CCC but you will have properly displayed screen...Now you must go into ADD/Remove Programs and uninstall CCC using the Repair Function of its uninstaller....

Once that is dont CCC panel will work as normal and then just update DirectX to march08..

This should give you better performance over the 8.2 driver but will the updated 8.2 control panel...

This should also fix you Rolling Screen problem/Line at top bottom....Which can happen with the 8.2 driver and 8.2 control panel...Also turn your Vsync off or too performance and use the refresh rate for Resolution your display reqiures...

Hope this helps.....DONT use 8.3 with Xp :mad::D Release 8.4 and numerouse fixes will be out next week:D
