I don’t care how awesome you think your gaming rig is, this 360° high-definition Humvee simulator has you beat. Head on over to Gizmodo and watch both the videos of this thing in action, it is extremely impressive.

This 360-degree ultra-high definition military simulator allows you to drive a Humvee and fire real weapons with absolute precision, including machine guns and rocket launchers, anywhere you want. The 10-projector system achieves a perfectly seamless panorama thanks to Mersive's Sol system; a calibration, warping and sub-pixel image blending technology that may jump from military sims to your living room in the near future.

Looks like the Nintendo Wii has some serious competition ;)

:Dlol, does anyone find it funny how the guy is standing and shooting next to the hummer while the simulation is driving?

Meh for Millitary use, doesn't look like much value vs other systems

Major Yes for arcade use... :D

yeah that is nuts, freaking awesome. I'd love to play live for speed in that thing.

Sorry... but mine is better. And better equipped. ;)

Is that simulator for the military? If so, its got one major downfall.
As far as I can tell the screens aren't tall enough to see the roof lines of buildings directly beside you. In modern war, many of the ambushes are going to come from the rooftops. It's basic fighting tactics, high ground is usually better.

I like to see the progression of this technology, but until they fix that flaw its almost useless. The money would be better spent on building some quick pre-fab ghost towns out in the desert to train in, which they already do.

Honestly I never liked going to those types of training simulators (I'm in the Army), The military has quite a few different training tools and they always modify them. For instance we played an Operation Flashpoint (The Engine at least) simulator before my third deployment in a 100 man LAN to simulate Convoy procedures.

This is the exact same thing as what we have now other than its a humvee/360 variant, there are 2 huge projectors we fire at.

But honestly the graphics are shit, the training technically is good for form but I'd rather be on a range or out in the field. You can't train realistically on those sims, they are strictly for form/technique. In the long run they do save the Army money though so whatever works.

I love the "Caution left hand drive" yellow sticker... let's the hadji's know where to fire.

Actually, we were in Australia.. and they drive on the left side of the road, with the driver being on the right side. Thats so they dont freak out when they see someone on the left side of the vehicle.

Oh, I understand why it's there, I just find it to be one hell of a liability in war time - I'm sure they don't have those when they are in theater.
