I have a WD raptor X for my OS and games, and I have a seagate 320gb HDD just for storage. The Raptor is fine, but the seagate will not work. BIOS recognizes the drive, device manager recognized the drive, but when I open My Computer to access, it is nowhere to be found. I tried updating the drivers, I tried switching sata ports, nothing will work. Anything I'm missing?

Specs:

Vista Ultimate x64
C2D e6300
evga 680i A1
2 GB DDR2 @1066MHz
8800GTS 640mb
WD Raptor X
Seagate 320 GB SATA II
Antec 650W PSU

Is the Seagate brand new, or were you once able to see it?

If it's brand new, format it with Partition Magic 8. Works great and it's very fast.

I hate symantec...there isn't anything else is there? Also, will it work with Vista x64?

You need to create partitions and file systems on the disk before you can use it.
You can use Vista's own disk management utility to do this, there is no need to use Partition Magic for what you want.

Use Disk Management. Run the program utility "diskmgmt.msc" from a 'run' prompt (If Vista is still the same, should be Start/Pearl -> 'run' or Windows Key + R).

Yup, just run disk management and intialize the disk and format it and you should be able to see it in windows. Otherwise there should be a cd that came along with the drive you can use which would be alot bigger hassle.

I'm in disk management, and I don't see any option to format anywhere. All I see is "convert to dynamic disk" or "convert to GPT disk." Do I use one of those options?

EDIT: I found it. Thanks guys.
