2GB or not 2GB?

Hi,

I currently have 1GB of OCZ Premier Dual Channel 2x512MB DDR400 PC3200.

I’m thinking of upgrading to 2GB of memory but have a few questions first.

1. My Motherboard's (MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum) manual says that if I fill all the memory bays up the memory speed will drop, which means that I can't buy another dual channel kit. So would just buying a single 1GB stick of ram do the same job without lowering the overall speed of the memory?

2. Is it better to stick with the same make memory? If so I have been struggling to find somewhere that sells the following in the UK: OCZ 1GB Stick

any info/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Regards,

Chris. :)

I would suggest selling the sticks you have, and purchasing a new 2x1GB pair. That is, if you really need the 2GB. I have a 2x1GB set as well as a 2x512MB set, and I've seen little, if any, difference. Down the road, that might change. So it's up to you.
