My friend is looking to buy a proc and wants to know if the 2800 is locked or not. thanks.

yes all bartons are now locked. but it shouldnt matter, you can still oc them fairly good...

i'm currently running an xp 2800, and i have to say that it oc's great. even with stock cooling, i'm able to run at a 1.8v core voltage, with a 400mhz FSB, @ 2.2 Ghz. (speed of an xp 3200).

2500 would be cheaper. basicly all bartons oc to the same level.

set ur fsb to 200 with a 2500 and boom!!!!!!!! u got a 3200. :D

i would have to agree with ALL4AMD, 2500 will be better if your OCing, cheaper and will do the same as a 2800

mine officially is stable at 11x210(2310mhz total) at 1.75Vcore:D
and with my zalman i only get up to 43 CPU temp under prime95 torture

ya i know, its just he thought only the 2500 was locked so he was gunna get a 2800.
