2709w flickering problems

Every so often the screen starts to flicker, if i lower the brightness it does it less, but i now have to lower the brightness right down to stop it. Is there an easy fix. I am tempted to clout it (usually fixed most problems) but i don't want to break the panel.

edit to add: for some reason brightness setting 70 is better than 50, after changing the brightness it is fine for a while, but after a while it starts to flicker again.

The flickering is really fast, like it doesn't go off, it sort of decreases the brightness by about 50% for a millisecond. sometimes it does it loads and sometimes it does it a bit, but it is worse than it was when i got it

One thing to check is make sure that it is running at 60hz and not 59. I notice on mine it seems to flicker when set to 59. Not sure why the settings sometimes get set to 59 as 60 should be default.

I would believe that 60% brightness is too aggressive.
FYI, the brightness on my 2709W is set to 0 %.
Prad also recommended to use 0%.

Also, I have fixed a blinking issue by using the Displayport input instead of DVI.

i just bought an hp 2509m and i am seeing the same issue of the rapid flickering (dimming and brightening). this may have to go back. should I try a new one or switch to samsung?
