26 or 27" for Gaming?

A good gamingscreen is 16:9 because else you will see less of the gamingworld.

Oh definitely. It would be excellent for console gaming and movies. Aim for the AA01 panel. Best lag/response.

I've also been looking into the LG 32LD450. It almost certainly won't have the same PQ and black level as the C550 (it's IPS), but it apparently has 1-2 frames max of input lag (compared to the 1-3 frames with the Samsung) and better responsiveness. I'm still not certain how PC mode functions and hence 444. Still trying to get to the bottom of it. Of all the 32" I've been researching, though, these two are the only viable options for PC use, imo.

Thanks for your answer. I'll definitely check out the C550.

I just bought the 32LD450. Very good for PC gaming. I notice 0 lag. Just make sure you set the TV to 'just scan 1:1' so it disables any processing of the image. I then set the picture mode to gaming and disabled all enhancements. Set the sharpness to 55. Text looks good.

Thing is I also own a 37LH30 LG TV that, IMO, is even better than the 32LD450 for PC use. Can't seem to find them anymore though.

Yeah. It seems to me there are several older models of LCD, a few from 2008 for instance, that are superior for PC use. Too bad they're all are near impossible to find.

How are the blacks on the D450? I realize they'll be worse than the Samsung C530/50 based on the panel tech alone, just wondering how it does in a dark room.

Thanks for your answer. I'll definitely check out the C550.

No problem. Check out the LG 32LD450 as well. It features an IPS panel assuming you find one with a "W" in the service code versus the Sammy's PVA/MVA, again depending on which version you choose (SQ0* or AA0*). It really depends on your personal preference; some prefer the accuracy and shadow detail of the IPS, others want to deep blacks of the VA. Regardless, both are really nice for gaming in general. Be sure to find a "W" LG, otherwise you'll be looking at a "D" and that's an inferior panel.

How is the text on the LG panel? Any chance you could take a high res photo of it?

I will try and get pics up. I don't own a digital camera right now so bear with me. The thing is, the text is a bit....fuzzy. Kind of a bit too pixelated. Not blurry just not crisp. My older LG 37LH30 the text is sharp as a tac. On the new TV I am still trying to get it focused. It is a work in progress.

According to test results recently posted on the AV and AVS forums, the 32LD450 successfully displays 4:4:4 while maintaining approx. 1-2 frames of lag, hands down the best result I've run across on a 2010 32" LCD, thusfar. When it comes to PC use, that's about as close to ideal as it gets these days.

Shame about the text. I've heard the set requires a lot of tweaking to get text over DVI>HDMI looking right. Do you have it set to "Just Scan"? Are all of the end user enhancement processes disabled (noise reduction, etc)? What level is your sharpness set at? I've been told 55 is a good baseline. Have you labeled your HDMI input PC, or are you running off an unlabeled input? I'm interested to hear your results as I'm tempted to pull the trigger on an LG tomorrow.

Also curious, your service code on the side sticker, is the panel type listed as a D or a W? On the side of the set, you'll see a sticker that will say something like "Product Code: 32LD450-UN.CCCDLH" or "UN.CUSWLHO" or something similar. Looks at the fourth character after UN. Is it a W or a D or something else entirely?

I am at work until 7am. I live near Boston. I will tell you the panel code letter if it's a W or D in the morning when I look at my set. Yes I am using a evga 275 GTX video card hooked up DVI to HDMI into the TV. I am using just scan 1:1 and every enhancement is off. I do not want anything touching the signal coming from my pc. Sharpness is at 55. If you label your input PC on this tv it changes your setting from just scan 1:1 to 16:9. That is why I avoid renaming the input to PC. I run it off a unlabeled input. Also I have my video setting set to Game. It seems on that mode the text is the clearest. I really am thinking about taking the panel back and going back to my 37LH30. The text is flat out sharp on it. No matter how much I want to like this panel and use it 100% as my pc monitor, I just can't get the text sharp enough....and that bothers me every time I use it.

Interesting. I've been discussing the 32LD450 with a guy on AVS who owns the set and has run a gauntlet of tests (very well done, good equipment and attention to detail).

I've passed along your reported issues. He tells me he was messing with PC mode just last night and it did not force 16:9, it maintained 1:1 with absolutely no overscan of any kind. I assume you were using the main HDMI port on the rear of the television and not the side port?

He's also fielding questions from a guy, discussing "forced edge enhancement" seen on some LG plasmas. It creates a white halo effect on high contrast images and fine lines, and the fella claims to have the same problem with his LD450 while viewing text via PC, though many others report no such issue with their display. EDIT: So it turns out the white halo dude owns the 42" LD450. My bad for not noticing sooner. Not sure why or if the larger panel size is contributing to his problem, but I wouldn't rule it out. Could be that the issue is present on the 32" but isn't noticeable compared to the 42".

I'm beginning to wonder if this is a firmware issue, or something to do with a specific international model or even manufacturer defects based on where the set was assembled. I'm just grasping at straws, though. It could also be inferior D panels just being terrible, though the guy with the white halo problem has a confirmed IPS panel.

Would you be able to post your entire product code and your firmware version? I can tell you this much: The dude with white halo has firmware version 03.00.12. The guy running the tests, on the other hand, has a US model with "WHO" at the end of the product code. This means it's S-IPS, and he thinks HO indicates "made in Mexico" (though that's just a guess).

@jarablue Check out this thread on AVForum, specifically the post I'm about to LINK. It might shed some light on your text problem. Good luck!
