2500k and Hyper 212 Concern

Just picked up a Hyper 212 and some Shin Etsu Paste for my 2500k, and I think there are a few things that are not quite right.

I noticed when I took the plastic off the heatsink, that there was a small indent(not deep) on one of the copper heat pipes, very small. Just want to put that out there as this might be part of the problem. Wish I had taken a pic now. -- <--that big

Anyways I added the the thermal compound per the arctic silver instructions for the i5. long grain down the center, and installed the heatsink. Just want to note too that the heatsink has play in it. not a wiggle but i can rotate it. Its locked and screwed in tight so I am not sure if this is normal or not.

Here are the idle temps

And heres my first build :)

Notice the last cores temps are significantly lower than the others. Does this mean I have to reapply the paste, reseat the heat sink. Exchange it? Not too sure what to do at this point. Thanks
Couldnt figure out how to get pics up here btw.

looking good man. I have one of those myself cooling an i5-760@3.5. For better noise control, consider replacing the stock fan with a gentle typhoon 1850rpm fan. Great noise reduction with no lose in cooling :)

Temps are better than mine. I used as5 on mine and my idle temps are 28-31c. Load temps 48-55c

Mine is tight but can rotate as well. Temps have been fine otherwise. It can get a bit loud, I may have to swap the fan.

The temperature sensors aren't always calibrated correctly. It seems like a lot of people have a core on their SB that always is a couple degrees cooler than the three other cores. For me, it's core 2.

I also idle at around 28C-30C, although I am using a more powerful fan (but running it at like 6v)

Sounds good then, looks like I have nothing to worry about. :) I was thinking lower temps on one core or two was caused by improper spread of thermal compound but I guess not.

Hi, OP,

I just want to provide you a note here to double-check. Your data is 99.9999% correct but I provide the following up-to-date cleanup session for your reference.

1. I did dust cleanup on one old computer earlier today.
2. I downloaded the latest free HWMonitor. It stated the core-temp is around 37+-C. Because the unit had been blowing hot-air/noisy-fans for some months (thus the cleanup). I doubted the reported figures.
3. Upon rebooting into BIOS, it told the other story. The actual figure was around 55+C one minute after entering BIOS. It is still true as of now even after the cleanup session.
As a result, I am thinking about what to do next.

Suggestion : double-check the temp info in BIOS if needed.
