Its for sale and can be bought.

And yeah its for 3d renders and such.
 
These are the types of cards used for high end video content creation, stuff like that, where you need tons of simply pure geometry crunching and frame rendering.
 
Its a workstation card. It's for 3D stuff (like 3Ds max and maya and such) as well as CAD work. It's not meant for games.

I would actually like to get my hands on one. But Dual Quadro FX 4000Gs probably work better...
 
It is a professional audocad card, made for graphics design and that sort of thing, if I'm not mistaken. The smoothness and accuracy of graphics are also alot greater than on our gaming cards.

it's not as good at gaming. Im not quite sure of the reason (something to do with architecture) but I know they dont perform as good for gaming.

I believe it has to do with the fact that they are highly specialized, they are good at rendering frames, and very good at it. However when it comes to all of the on the fly things you need to do for games, they just aren't designed for it like that. It would be like an assembly line that can pump out 100000 screws an hour, compared to another manufacturing plant that can pump out all the miscellaneous doo dads you could ever want. The first is great at making screws, but if you try and make a bunch of different things it just wont do as well.... (ok bad analogy so sue me)

I wonder if there's a comprehensive comparison review for these kinds of cards. I'd really like to see how a quadro (basically an enhanced gaming chip) stacks up against the dedicated ones.
 
It's really hard to find reviewws on workstation cards, even my most intensive googing only got me like 1 actual review.
 
actually the problem is not the fact that the cards cant handle the work of the games. Its that the games were not develped with those cards in mind. Also to my knowledge the next gen games (Doom3 and HL2) dont even support the 3dLabs card without an extensive mod to the drivers for it.

Its kinda like trying to play soccer with a football. You can do it, it just wont work as well as youd like.

over here (UK) Football=soccer so itd work quite well :p :p

Well the Quadros are Just the same as GeForces Corewise
(sometimes slight tweaks )
But with different drivers and bios's
 
I really thought about that while writing the post, but just hoped deep down that no one would make the comment.

wouldnt want to, unless you plan on selling it, it wouldnt run your games well or if at all....

Someone before told me it only averaged 14 fps on hl2 and 10 or 9 on doom3.... :rolleyes:

Me too. Ebay it and then get a bag full of 6800gts ^^

Geez, that card would prob render my simple autocad stuff in .00001 seconds.

I would, just sell it on ebay, get a cool $2500 (CDN) then save up another $500 for a kickass dual xeon system!
 
if a company buys one of these cards for autocad the owner should be kicked in the head. then they should hire me so i can bring in a much better piece of software, like solidedge. I hate using a gaming card for 3d work. crashing, slow redraws, craptastic looks. I have a geforce 4200 at work :p and it sucks

Okay so i atleast have 512MBs of RAM at work BUT STILL BAD TIMES!!!

I want that card so bad.

ouch... i guess your boss doesn't like making any money cause all he's doing is wasting it while you twiddle your thumbs... a P2 that is uncalled for.
