well, i think im finally ready to make the plunge (AHAHA...wait..that wasnt funny) and i'm interested in the ac watercooling product line, but as of now, i only have around $250 (plus shipping) to spend on the entire system. i'm looking for cpu cooling only, as the rest can come later, but i want the aqua-tube resivoir included.

my guess was the cuplex evo, and the aquatube would come out to around $160, so that leaves 90 for the rest of the components. or, i could also do the cuplex revision 1.1, and an aquatube, which would leave around $120 left to play with. would either of these be smart options, or should i just buy a complete dangerden/whatever kit and upgrade it later?

thanks much for the help. :D

I think you can do it :)

However, I would do it like this:

Eheim 1046 w/ Plug n Cool fittings (one straight and one 90 degree <bent>) $60
Cuplex XT w/ Plug n Cool fittings $110
Aquatube (pick Black, Titan, Silver, or Blue) $65
Aquajet $13
AquaBay AT $35
6 feet Plug n Cool tubing (clear or black) $6

Total: $289

Okay I ran over a bit, but I think you will be a lot more happy to have the Cuplex XT down the line. If you wanted to mount the Aquatube vertically in your case you could save about another $20 bringing the total down to about $269. Toss the Aquajet and you are back to your basic setup for around $250 :D

Oops I forgot to put in the radiator! Give me a while and I will be back with some more ideas.

Why use the XT, you can find evo's and pro's for half the price if your looking to upgrade. Then if you want you can get a blacked out cuplex evo black chrome plated copper base black plug and cools ( skys the limit ;) )

As for the rad you can get someone to make or make yourself a chevette heater core rad or bonnie with plug and cools, barbs etc welded on. PM me for info

well, what i'm honestly looking for would be the option to get as close to (if possible) 4ghz.top nurse, thanks for the outstanding response...say i substituted the xt for one of the lesser models, mounted the tube vertically, and didnt get the aquajet, that (if i got the run of the mill edition cuplex) would bring my cost to 181, leaving 69 dollars for a radiator...i could go higher than 250, but this is the *preferred* budget.

thanks for the help everyone, and still looking for more! :)

I seem to recall that the Cuplex Pro's just dropped in price recently. I will check it out and get back with you. The heater core isn't a bad idea either. :)

Okay I checked it out and it wasn't the Cuplex Pro's that dropped in price. It was the Twinplex's ver 1.3 :( So the going rate for the Cuplex Pro's are about $70 and the Evo's about $80. For the $30-40 difference in your total costs I would recommend the XT as it is a newer design and looks a lot better. :D But I definitely know about budgets so I can totally understand your hesitation. For the time being the Cuplex Pro would probably be just fine.

I think SNT *might* have these in stock and seeing how they appear to be having severe financial problems they may be inclined to have a fire sale. Why not offer them $40 and see what you get. :)

edit: If you get anything from SNT it would probably behoove you to have it sent UPS COD just to be on the safe side.

Well I think the reason for the low water level was to show what was going on with an Aquajet.

I noticed that about the stainless plates with the fingerprints :( Glad that Wes is bringing in a bunch of black and silver aluminum faceplates for the Aquaero and Aquastream. :D

How do we make sure the Aqua CPU cooling unit fits w/ your motherboard? say w/ Intel CPU.

And if I like complete silent sys., does the Aqua works w/ Zalman reserator or do they have something equivalent that is totally silent?

Aqua Computer gear fits almost any known CPU. If you want info on building a hybrid Zalman and Aqua Computer rig then thee person you want to talk to is Wes at
Sharka Corp as he knows almost as much about Zalman products as the guy who owns it (Zalman).

A-C also has an Airplex Evo 1800 radiator that works well as a passive device or you can attach up to I think 15 120mm fans to it. :D However, the better solution in my book is the Innovatek passive device as it comes with a mount.

Have you seen a Zalman reservator? What country make it? Is it Korea or USA? How long should they last? I know the warranty is 2 yr. BUt I wonder how long is the lifespan of the pump.

Yes I see several everytime I go to Sharka. Richard who works at Sharka also handles Zalman's tech support. It is made in the Republic of South Korea. You are asking the wrong person about the pump life, but since I have been inside a couple of Reserator's I can tell you that they are easy to replace the pump. In fact using a bigger pump would not be difficult at all to mod. :D
