Hello,

I have started a web site dedicated to 24" LCD monitors and I would like to kindly ask you, owners and LCD enthusiast for a help with making the site perfect resource for everybody interested in those nice pieces of technology.

The site runs at http://lcd24.asp2.cz and already contains 36 models* from 15 manufacturers. I have used information available on this forum along with official resources** and what I was able to find on the Internet, but there are still missing technical specification data for certain models, there could be more links to reviews etc. So if you have any suggestions, links, photos... please drop me a message - I'll really appreciate your effort.

* Some of them may be available only in certain regions.
** I am particularly interested in unofficial ones :)

I have also planned some improvements to be done in the near future, including suport for revisions (which may differ significantly, like Dell 2407 A0X), color variants, panel information (did not make it into the first version) and some more technical specs - stay tuned...

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Looks very promising. Maybe a new domain name though. Something people will be easy to remember.

You wouldn't happen to know when the x24wg naga is coming out would you? I'm considering waiting for it, but I might just unload on a 2407 WFP A04.

get a better domain name, and add some kind of thing relating to price. Somehow tie in lowest prices from our favorite vendors (Newegg if possible). I like the site, was just was I was looking for. You should eventually do it for every size.

Yes, I am aware of the domain name and I'll definitely switch to a better one. The problem is that all reasonable names have been already used. I wanted lcd24.info...

Unfortunately, I do not know.

I think it would be great if it had a quick way to see what the LCD is lacking...like I could click on the FP241W and see that prior to a firmware update there's no 1:1. something like that would be super handy...

The price information has relatively high priority in my to-do list. But, there are several things which make it not so easy to implement:

1) There is no standard interface which I could use to query price from all shops, so it will be a lot of work to create an automated system that covers at least several major leaders in particular country/region,

2) I cannot compete with sites which specialize in that - there are simply not enough 'resources' available; there will always be complains that the price shown is not the lowest, someone's favorite on-line shop is not included etc.

I will try to include at least some kind of price class, like average price of selected shops in a country/region (which may differ significantly ;-).

You should eventually do it for every size.

That is really a long-term... I don't know exactly how many monitors are manufactured around the world, but one German website (prad.de) says they have more than 3000 items in their database - it will need completely different approach to get the web site which includes that amount of monitors with level of information I would want.

I'll maybe expand to models above 24", but not smaller - this I simply cannot manage alone (in my spare time).

Thanks.

I think a list of what the monitor is lacking is hard to compile to satisfy everyone. Some people value certain aspects more than others, so everyone's needs are different. While you might just need to see "no 1:1", someone else might want to see "plastic feels cheap", which would have probably been left out unless he lists all the possible negatives of the monitor.

I do think it'd be a good idea to include the availability of certain main features like 1:1, aspect mode, 1080p support, etc. in the monitor specs.

It was my original intention to see what are 'real' differences among monitors - I decided to get an LCD some time ago, started research to determine the 'best' one and the web is the result (have not bought anything yet ;-).

1:1 pixel mapping will come soon, when support for revisions is complete - because model is still the same in case of BenQ FP241W with fixed firmware.

Aspect mode is 16:10 for all 24"-s, given by resolution and square pixels (I know you already know - I will include such tech specs when they differ).

HDCP support will be also improved.

Thank you,

When I said aspect mode, I meant the ability to keep a 16:9 signal's aspect and stretch it out to fit as much of the screen as possible. 1:1 and aspect mode usually come hand in hand, but they're not really the exact same thing, so I figured they need their own categories :).

I did some research on the 2407WFP...

Reviews #1, #2, #12 and TFT Central article #9 have been already listed, the rest will appear after update which is scheduled today (at about 23:00 CET). Thank you.

Would you mind if I publish your nickname as 'source' ?
