Im thinking about getting this monitor to replace a 19" Samsung 191T LCD. I'm a little tired of the ghosting and I dont have the bucks to shell out for a bigger or equal screen that would promise equal or slightly better response time. What do you all think?
 
I have a pal with one like that. They are feckin' beyooooteeful...

I am using a Trinitron P1110, still works great.

Diamondtron tubes are very nice and very comparable to Trinitron.
 
I love mine like none other. Easily the single best computer hardware purchase I've ever made. 1600x1200@100 Hz is so beautiful.
 
get the 2070sb. Its newera nd hasent been sitting in a warehouse for 4 years. They are the same exact monitor. I ahve had both of them and they have bad geometry on the top which takes about 7 hrs to fix and still doesnt look good, Even with that it is the best crt for that priace on market
 
Get the FP2141. I've heard more gripes about the Mitsu-manufactured monitors compared to the NEC manufactured ones, which makes me wonder how both companies do quality checks (yes, same tube, and they have the same site, necmitsubishi.com, but I've heard more gripes about Mitsu-branded ones).

The ones I've seen/used don't have the geometry problem though, but they vary from CRT to CRT.
 
....I've been looking at the exact same monitor. A panel would be cool, but I've got one of those "corner" desks with (no kidding) about 4' of clearance behind the thing. Plenty of room for almost any tube I want.......

If I had to buy one today, that's the one I'd buy. If you buy it, post and let us know what you think......:cool:

I've got one. Had one of those new 12ms 19" Sony LCDs before it. HS94p or some shit, don't remember the specific model # and I'm not gonna look it up. Anyway, took the damn thing back (cant stand LCDs b/c of the blurring) and picked up a FP2141. Best monitor I've ever laid eyes on.
 
Yep, I got a 2141 as well. It is an awesome monitor. Only 2 downsides really. It is huge, and heavy. And then of course the focus out of the box sucked. The huge and heavy part doesn't bother me to much as I'm not a small guy so I can handle it w/o problem, but I would never take it to a lan just cause it is a bitch to get in and out of my car. Now on the focus, it was fixed by adjusting the pots on the side. My monitor actually came so badly focused that I could drag a text box around the screen and watch the text come in and out of focus. Looked beautiful at the center and went to crap at the edges. Now it looks great all over.

as far as nec goes.. i have a multisync fe950+bk.. i would get a 2nd one, but they don't make them anymore.. i rma'ed my first one becuase i was being picky and the color wasn't uniform across the bottom.. the shipped me one first.. but they sent me a refurb with a scratched screen.. so i called them. and said that they sent me a scratched one and it was a refurb, they told me that i was technically over my 30 days, but since it was so close they would send me a new one.. so they sent me a 3rd one and payed for me to ship the first 2 back (which would have been fucking expensive for me).. so their customer support was good.. they worked to accomodate me, and we were able to transport 3 monitors through the mail with maybe 4 phone calls total and a few e-mails..

also.. llama made a good point.. they have tons of geometry controls.. the problem is that you need them.. it can seriously take a few hours to set up the geometry on big nec monitor..

but seriously.. i would go with 2 19's becuase it is cheaper, looks cooler.. and you get way more screen real estate
 
I hate 22" monitors for gaming, I hate having to look around the Screen to see stuff also if you have a mid range graphics card get a smaller monitor. becosue 1024x768 will look like crap streched to a 22"

No it doesn't. I gamed on my monitor with my ti4200 at 1024x768 for 6months before I got my 6800gt. Now all gaming is done in 1600x1200 goodness.
 
um yes it does. the more a image is spread out at a lower resolution it is going to look worse.

an example take a photo and zoom in on it on ur pc. It will look worse. I have the 2070sb and running game at 1024x768 looks like crap when its all stretched out
 
I have 2070 and its the best thing ever. Hooked up with an xvga adapter to my xbox and I bust a nut everytime.

Go with the 2070.. 20 bucks or so more but worth it because of the more options and resos.

It doesn't look as good as 1600x1200, but it doesn't look like crap. CRT technology can scale pixels to whatever size necessary. Sure the pixel will be bigger, but it doesn't look like crap. It is perfectly playable at 1024x768. The extra pixel size does not distract from gaming, unless your just completely anal about that stuff.
 
My 2141 was near perfect out of box...it still took some hours of tweaking to make it even better...but that doesn't matter. I think a big factor behind that is how bashed around it got during shipping....there were no marks or dings on the box, and it looked as if it was treated well. Focus is not easy to adjust since the knobs are very sensitive!

I even play 320 x 200 DOS games on it....The pixels are certainly blockier on such a large screen. It does look better on my 17 inch.....but not too bad on this monitor. Considering it's EGA graphics in the first place!
 
as long as were on this monitor...why is it a 22 incher when its viewable is only 20? y not just call it a 21in?

The glass is 22in. There is a very large border around the monitor. If you pop off the plastic bezel on the front you will see the glass goes almost to the edge of the monitor. The reason for all the extra glass is probably the way AG work. Yes they could make more of the display viewable, but the quality probably drops off significantly over the 20in mark.
