Just got back from Best Buy...

The whites on this KILLS my 181T. Color reproduction is awesome, the brightness is superb, ZERO dead pixels, ZERO stuck pixels, ZERO defects and no noticeable "screen door," either. I was surprised by that. No ghosting, either (of course, I've never noticed it anyway, but others do), using DVI.

The one downside is that it's a bit more wobbly than the 181T, since it can do portrait and landscape modes and swivels, and therefore it can't be as rigid. Nothing too bad, though.

Now I'll need a better video card to run 16x12 games more smoothly... :D

My poor MasterCard couldn't take it. Heh. The dual-DVI is droolworthy, though...

Well, I could've gotten it online with minimal shipping and no tax, but I was at Best Buy and it just called to me...I couldn't wait to order it online and get it sometime next week!

$1199 tag price, $1300.50 with tax.

BTW, nice Trek VI quote!

The Undiscovered Country is one of my all-time favorites.

"Boy, that sure is one big ship.... Not as big as her captain's heart though..."

:D

For the wallpapers, Dieselstation is a pretty good car wallpaper site. I don't know if it's what your looking for but as soon as I think of other sites I'll tell you.

Torquemada XP, Im happy to see that you love your monitor. I just ordered one from dell yesterday. It will probably get to me by Wednesday. Your post just made me feel a lot better about the large number now looming on my credit card statement. :)

Ill let you know how mine works out

The thing is massive...you'll sit there after hooking it up and just keep repeating, "It's so huge!"

1600x 1200 is naitive for that screen and anything lower wont look as good.

Congrates dude and welcome to the club , its an awesome monitor now people will beleive me about the no ghosting on this screen.

1600x1200 isn't too bad on a large LCD as long as you adjust the Windows font sizes accordingly. Some sites still won't look quite right in IE, but other than that, I've gotten used to it pretty well.

Yes I go extra large. As far as web pages are concerned, protrait mode baby.

PS: Dont forget to enable clear type it rocks: http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/cleartypeactivate.htm

I don't increase the font size at all...the regular setting is just fine for my eyes. I just like two whole web pages (forums, naturally) open at once.

Congratulations on your monitor! I would get one but I need to eat and stuff...

My 213t's estimated delivery date is tomorrow. I dont know when ill pick it up though because ill be at work all day. Does anyone know if airborn express lets you go get it from their office?

I don't care for ClearType. It's too blurry for my eyes, even after "tuning" it. I like the crispness of regularly-anti-aliased text. :D

jacuzz1, Torquemada XP I have a question for you.

I just got my 213t yesterday (ill post impressions and pics later). How do i adjust color? Is it not possible with DVI? Everything is good but the image looks slightly washed. I think what i really need is a little higher contrast (i know thats not possible) or maybe just adjusting the color will help.

oh and...

The screen is not fully adjustable with DVI, make sure you run the Samsung inf file if your using dvi. When analoug you will have full control however the screen does not perfom nearly as sharp

I did it this way,

Hooked up the screen vga and then ran the samung driver exe on the disc, i calibrated
and rebooted. Then i pushed the Auto button

I shut down and hooked up DVI and then set the brightnes to about 90% Iknow it sounds like a ritual but everything looks great.

let me make sure im understanding you correctly. Are you saying you configured your monitor while plugged into analog then saved the settings. Then those settings stayed when you switched to DVI? If so thats great news.

Not sure, it feels that way. I did it that way from the start. I suspect that all you realy need to do hook up dvi and run the Samsung driver and your done. Thats what I did with my silver one when i got it. The black one just did not seem right initialy so i went through the dance.
