For those of you not able to see them side by side or test them out in a local store, I took a couple pics. I just got my secondary 19" widescreen Hanns G HW191D in today, and running it dual with my 21" Gateway FPD2185W. Sorry for the pics, I can't find a good setting to take them in the dark or in the light, stuck somewhere in between, but I digress. The one on the right has a blue tint, an artifact of the camera angle/settings...bahhh...it's right in real life as far as color.

The display on the left is at 1680x1050 and the one on the right is at 1440x900.

Anyway, I like this 19" display, no stuck pixels, smooth and fast response time, color good, aka, typical of modern LCD's. You can see there is still a large difference between a 19" and a 21" widescreen. I would still take a 19 widescreen over a regular 19" anyday...

I think it's really helpful how you displayed the same image on both screens for comparison purposes.

Well...not really? Both the [H] but not technically the same page....I might try some better pics here if I can figure out my damn camera...LOL.

How do you like that Gateway? I was in Office Depot today and they had it @$399 after rebate and it looked pretty nice and had good features.

I think that was sarcasm. :p

I like it, alot. I bought it locally about a year ago, so that if I had any reservations I could take it right back, I kept it. And at the time, I paid a whopping $599 for that bitch.... :D

Damn for $399 I might buy another!

Yeah and I think I saw some sarcasm in the post about the same image hehe.

To be honest, the 19" has a bit truer white, maybe because it is on VGA and the Gateway is on DVI? I might try swapping them to see if anything changes...also I am using a shitty 6200LE for now until the DX10 cards hit....

EDIT: dual displays are working flawless under Vista 5728 that I am dual booting with XP Pro.

nice comparison those 2 extra inches do make a bit of a difference :)

I changed the pics to some better ones, showing the same background image :D Since cumtwat was being rude... ;)

Hmm 19...21...seem like big difference...

Here is 22" vs 20" if interested..not big..and a 19" in there behind the Acer 22"..and a case for another client..sorry for mess.

sorry.jpg

i have a 19" WS and a 17" normal and the 17" is taller than the 19ws by about 1/4 of an inch..

i like WS better for watching TV on and it looks nicer... i got mine for $220 its a westinghouse from BB and i got it on sale...

i have never seen any ghosting while playing BF2 and my 7800gtx can kill anything thrown at it at 1440x900

with a 21"ws i would definately need a SLI setup to get the FPS i have now, this also delays when i need to buy another $400 video card :)

if i didnt make $10/hr and still going through college id get a 24" dell WS but i dont make alot of money... like $800/mo and with my car payment, Cell and a girlfriend who will want a siney ring sometime soon :) I cant affor $300+ for a monitor..

it is a big diff 21 v 19

yup i agree with iam in the same boat
i was lucky enought to get the LG L204WT while it was on sale a t circuitcity
great monitor imho best bang for your buck

could you get a pic of all 3 monitors together
like 22 20 and 19 or at least 20 vs 19
i was curious cuz orginnaly bought a 19 ws and returned it
and got 20.1 inch ws which i felt was a huge diffrence

Much better pics for showing off the difference versus the first pics you posted. With that wallpaper you can clearly see the extra screen real estate as well as the Gateway having slightly richer color in the blue of the sky and the brown/grays in the mountain. That little Hanns G seems to look very good for the price and considering it's a TN panel though..

Good comparison.

I went from a NEC fe2111sb CRT (22 inch/20 inch viewable) to a Samsung 215tw (really the same panel as the Gateway here) and I lost only a half inch vertically with the widescreen. Most definitely it is worthwhile to bump up to the 21 inch LCD WS.

Yeah for a TN panel it was surprisingly decent....especially for $189.

The TN panel is definitely not as good in the black levels as the Gateway.
