Hey all

I have an IBM P275, as seen here
http://www.superwarehouse.com/IBM_P275_Black_21_CRT_Monitor/6652U3N/ps/38795

This is just a rebadged sony trinitron. I am having problems with colors on this monitor and am not sure what to do.

While reading a page, all the text has a very faint..."rainbow" effect to it. This effect is diagonal which starts in the top right and goes to bottom left. Sorry its kind of hard to explain.

Does anyone know what this could be or how to fix it?

Running on an X800XT vga out, 6ft vga cable with the 2 ferrite ends. I want to try the DVI port on this monitor, but I can never get it to work.

Thanks

did you check the convergence on the monitor? that might have something to do with the rainbow effect

and you say it has a DVI out on a CRT?

I tried the convergence on all settings going back and forth and it just seems to make it worse.

I can try taking a picture with a digital camera but I dont think it will show this effect. If I were reading a line of text I would see green/red/blue diagonal streaks going through it, its faint but its still enough to notice at 2 ft away. And there is the occasional fading or dulling in certain spots. Certain areas of the screen will have text fade from a deep black to a blurred gray and then go back to deep black again.

I have no idea whats going on. Is this CRT toast? Anyway to fix it? I have heard of the adjustment knobs inside the CRT, do these do anything for this problem?
And yes, there is a DVI port on the back of it. Haven't been able to get it to work, maybe im using the wrong cable

You'll need a DVI-I or DVI-A cable for the monitor to work with DVI. It's electrically superior to VGA so may offer some advantages.

Anything near it that may be causing interference?

If none of the monitor's own controls fix it don't go opening the thing up. It's very dangerous unless you know exactly what you're doing.

I have a pair of wireless headphones (sony) that I use from time to time, they sit in between my computer and monitor, and I constantly get static from them, would interference cause these type of problems with the monitor?

Umm.. sounds like a convergence problem to me. There isn't any convergence controls?
