2048x1536 LCD?

the problem there me old friend is that is a 4:3 resolution

2048/1536 = 1.3333

4/3 = 1.3333

any lcd at that resolution is going to be quite old and discontinued as you have found

they [the people that make these things] moved to widescreen

like the dell 30" - which runs at some ungodly 2500xsomethingelsehigh

2560/1600 = 1.6

16/10 = 1.6

so...

look for something upwards of 27" and widescreen if you want insane resolutions

oh and be prepared to chuck out some more $$$ for a dual head dvi card

required for said resolutions - not to mention gaming at that clip

we're talking g80/r600 at that point

i have a 24" wide lcd which runs at 1920x1200

that taxes my poor little 8800gts in games...

fwiw

sigh, I fear you are right. Thing is though, I really like those high resolution monitors and I've never been a big fan of the widescreen.

Having said that, I'd be willing to buy someting over 1900x1200 with widescreen (still not enough real estate for me), but the 27" monitors are just too big. I hit the genetic lottery for wahtever reason and I can read super-tiny text easily, so I want a 21" or so monitor that can displayed the very very high resolution without looking like a tv on my desk.

Unfortunately there are currently no consumer LCD resolutions between 1920x1200 and 2560x1600, so you would have to go with the latter to best what you are currently used to in terms of raw pixels. The best you can do I would say is to get a 23" @ 1920x1200 which will offer the best pixel pitch for your flawless eyes. That is, unless you go for a 30" @ 2560x1600 and push it far to the back of your desk...

Looks like it's not only old, but meant for a medical profession or something. Look at the contrast ratio and brightness. Horrible. It's also almost double the number of pixels as a 30" at native resolution. Can dual-link DVI even handle that kind of bandwidth?

yea, i noticed that too. :(

I might end up settling for just a 2560x1600 monitor and having it take up half my desk. Not exactly what I wanted but it will have to do for now I think.

Damn Fibonacci, damn him to HELL:mad: 1:1.6 is the work of the devil I tell ya' and to use it makes you in league with Lucifer himself!

We want a proper 4:3 screen!

also dont price yourself out of pocket

my 24" wide was $500 on ebay

no dead pixels and has worked flawlessly since i got it...

you may not like widescreen - but $5k vs $500 is pretty steep for any preference

especially when we are talking about computer monitors

and not like thai hookers or something important like that...

for that kind of money you can combine smaller lower resolution displays to nice
effect

shop smart, shop s mart

I couldn't either until I googled it. It's under support but I don't see where they still sell it.

anyone know anything more about this monitor?

You need 2 dual link DVI ports and converter boxes to run it at the maximum refresh rate of 48 hertz.

Here is a picture of it compared to Apple's 30" LCD: http://stfcc.org/bluefox/misc/monitor.PNG
