I'm on the verge of ordering a Dell 2005fpw. It will be replacing a Samsung 915N. After reading Anandtech's review of both monitors i'm all but convinced that the 2005fpw is worthy of purchase.

I'm just curious about the complaints that were made about the 2005fpw when it was first released. Also how many of you had dead pixels, bleeding, etc. Thank you for your time.

8 of my collegues at work purchased this monitor (including myself).

Only one of them had any dead pixels (1 green near the centre). None of them have any horrible backlight issues either.

Rumour has it that the 2005/2405 are based on the same panel that the Apple cinema displays use.

You'd be hard pressed for me to switch from this LCD. I'm VERY impressed at that quality of the display (in terms of both what it displays, and the sturdiness of the unit).
 
mine had 2 dead pixels, but one just went away. now i only have 1, but its impossible to see. its just 1 brown pixel that cant been seen unless you have great eyes, like me.

also no backlight issues.
 
I got mine around March '05. It has one stuck red pixel in the upper middle off to the left a little bit, and some backlight bleeding I notice only when the screen is mainly black. It's not a perfect 2005fpw by any means, but I have never once regretted my decision to get one.
 
I have zero dead pixels and slight backlight bleeding in 3 corners. Only the top left is noticable, andthat is only when its on a black screen. HardForum is pretty much as dark as I go and its not noticable here, mostly ecause the FireFox toolbar is there to draw the eyes away from it.
If I didn't come here so much, and wasn't very computer savy I would never have noticed it, or would have though it was normal. I have had this monitor for quite some time and am very happy with it.
 
I bought one for my girlfriend and one for myself this spring. Hers has minor backlighting issues, mine's pretty damned good.
 
3 hard to find stuck pixels... and VERY MINOR backlight bleed at the top... i was satisfied, so didint play the return game
 
I had a good coupon so I got a 2005fpw, it had 6 :eek: dead pixels scattered around in one corner and some minor backlight bleeding, just decided to just sell it and stick with my 21" CRT. It wasn't a bad monitor, especially for the price, but I refurb laptops all day, so I see a lot of LCD's, and a new one that has more dead pixels and bleeding than 5 year old laptops just had to go :D
