Just received my lcd today...everything is good except for one sub dead pixel, which is very tiny and hard to notice. As far as the backlight leakage, I haven't notice it...I have played dvd's and games and have not notice it...amazing picture quality!!...the problem that I do have and hope is a easy fix is I can't get the lcd to work with my radeon 9500 using the DVI cable...the vga cable works fine...but would like to take advantage of the DVI...I tried everything..from installing the latest drivers...testing it on another computer with a radeon 8500 (no go)..and playing with the resolutions...nothing works...is it the monitor or my video card...I had a Samsung 152t using the DVI and it worked great...and to note when I installed the lcd i kept the old DVI cable that was already attached to the computer...I notice the DVI cable that came with the 2005fpw is thicker than the one I had, I already changed it but does it make a difference?

Anyone using this monitor with a radeon 9500??

In the lower right hand side of your monitor are 5 buttons. The button on the left side toggles what type of input you are using (dvi, vga, s-video, composite). Make sure you have that adjusted right.

yup..I toggled through the modes..when it is on DVI...its black..the the power save mode msg comes up...I moved the mouse and keyboard...but still no go = (
 
hmm... I thought that would have fixed it. Well, the only other thing I can think of is to check both ends of your cable and make sure no "barbs" in the connector are bent or broke off. Perhaps it's a defective cable. Try replacing that maybe. Thats just a few of my suggestions ... probably won't fix the prob, but thought i would toss the in.
 
You may need to enable the DVI connection (FPD) in the advanced-> displays in the display control panel. I would hook both the analog and DVI up at the same time.. so u can easily switch back and forth for easier troubleshooting. ;)
 
The input on the 2005FPW is DVI-D while the outputs on most lower-end and/or older video cards are DVI-I. The output on your particular card might not work with the 2005FPW :(

On my old, off-brand GFFX5200's DVI mine didn't work, but on my 9700 Pro and QuadroFX it did work. You might just be out of luck.

I dont think that actually matters... I believe the only difference between DVI-D and DVI-I is an extra pin on the DVI-D cable.

Correct me if I'm wrong people, but I think it's basically the same, if a card can do DVI it doesnt matter what form.
 
I agree with you GRAFiZ, all DVI-I means is it contains both the digital and analog connections, (DVI-D + DVI-A) , it's essentially a combination of DVI-D and DVI-A cables within one cable. The I is for Integrated meaning a combination of both signals D and A. The card is not that old...I don't see why I'm having trouble, I have restarted numerous times after installing the DVI cable...I tried to contact dell customer support but after waiting on the phone for 20min I was directed to a voice mail :mad: I will try again later...I'm hoping that it is the moniter and not the video card cause I really don't want to buy a new one...this card works great with the latest games...on another note I'm running this card with a resolution of 1680x1050 with no problem in VGA mode...just need to confirm whether it is my video card or the moniter so I can decide if I should replace the monitor.

What he said. DVI need to be rebooted, its not like VGA where you can just hook it up when the PC is on.
 
i met exactly the same problem. my geforce fx5200 can't light 2005fpw in DVI-D mode. To see if DVI-I on my vid card is ok, i tried to use a dvi-vga adapter, then it worked, but i guess it's just plain analog with the dvi-vga adapter so it couldn't tell anything? anyway, returned already due to dead pixels and backlight problem.
 
Mine works fine with my Radeon 9500, using DVI or D-SUB, I had to restart a few times to make it work at 1680 x 1050, after installing drivers (Those in the cd suplied by dell, Think catalyst 4.8), It worked perfectly, only one red sub-pixel in the middle of the screen (you can only see it on a black background) but almost unnoticeable.

PS: Mt card is a Saphire Radeon 9500 128MB, to hanlde 1680x1050 fine, I´ll need to upgrade-it
 
Cri...thats the exact same card I have...the Saphire 9500 128mb...I tried restarting a number a times..still didn't work...I also tried using the drivers it came on the cd, that didn't work either...I'm now using the lastest drivers from ati which are 4.11...nothing works...I'm going to call Dell today...looks like its the monitor then....thanks for the feedback because I just wanted to find out if anyone else was using the same card on the monitor.
 
Keep us posted. I for one had a lot of uncertainty about getting this monitor and using it with my Verto gf4 ti4600 and DVI. I cancelled my order because of all the problems people are having but I am still curious about compatibility with "older" cards.
 
Well, my steps:
1st plug monitor using both D-SUB & DVI-D
2nd Install monitor drivers
3rd Uninstall graphic drivers (because it did´n´t show 1680x1050)
4th Install Graphic drivers (now I will try again my omega ones)
And the after reebooting it worked,
(then I played a little bit with the control panel, Reduce dvi frecuency...etc)
*I supose we all make the same procedure*
