sorry to beat an old horse, as it were, but what (if any) are the differences between the dell 2001fp? ive been looking around alot and i cant come up with much. apparently some dell users have said they see the "screen door effect"..does this effect the vp201b as well seeing as how they have same panel? also, what other differences are there between the two? if there is no other difference (which im thinking is the case) then why in the world would anyone buy the vp201b for $800-900 when you can get the 2001fp direct from dell for under $700 right now direct from dell? the 2001fp has such low sale prices that im pretty sure ill just get that instead of an x800xt/psu for now..those can wait ^^

i would also like to know because i can buy a 2001fp or vp201s for practically the same price (2001fps slightly cheaper). but i've heard a lot more horror stories about the dell

Horror stories?

I hated my VP201. I thought the screen was terrible quality. The backlight was very uneven, and light grays and blues suffered from the screen door effect. The screen door effect is what made me send the monitor back.. it was horrible.

I'm trying to decide between the VP201 and VP912. This weekend's sale on the 2001fp just complicated matters even further.

I can't tell if I see more problems with the Dell because it's more prevalent, or if it's build quality just isn't up to par.

That would be my guess. I mean, most people will find a place to bitch if its defective (no manufacturer is perfect) but if people are happy they won't bother making a thread.

hmm so there have been some owners who didnt had problematic screens. but hwo common is this and do these sorts of problems carry over to the vp201b? if not then id gladly pay the extra $$ necessary to get a better screen.

edit: the 213t is also an option. it is bigger but its supposedly better picture quality would be a plus..i dont really play alot of high frame rate FPSs that would need a faster panel or a crt to play..ocaasionally some CoD but the blur it would have isn't a really big issue for me. i was playing some CoD on my friend's 40ms NEC LCD and it wasnt really that bad. but im not used to playing FPS too much and if i was really into that i can imagine it being a problem but eh :p

I'd go with the 2001FP. A lot of people recommend it as well as gaming magazines and the like. There will always be people who hate something.

I went with the VP201s and although still blown away by the sheer size of it, I'm starting to see pixel problems. I've got one pixel stuck on red when the display is white and two fairly close to each other stuck on green when it's black. I've only had the display for about 36hours. At this rate the display will become unusable in no time. Lets just hope that the ViewSonic warranty is good.

2001FP All the way. Great quality and the price as of now is hard to beat. I do have to say I have stuck pixel , but other than that its has been a pleasure to use.
