I'm looking to buy a new photo printer for my mother for Christmas. PLEASE do not recommend Epson to me. I have bought 3 of their printers randomly over the last 8 years... and every one had a problem with print quality or a malfunction that caused it not to work at all.

So basically I'm looking for a good Canon or an HP.

Looking to spend up to $200 or maybe a little more depending on what makes that model better. Speed is not real important but would be a nice option, as she is coming from an old HP932c which has been trusty for 5 years. What matters most is color print quality. She prints out a lot of photos and I want them to look a lot better than what the HP932c could put out.

Any suggestions??? I've been thinking about the Canon Pixma series.. I like the fact that you can replace a color as it goes out vs. the whole cartridge. So that would be beneficial as well.

How does this one look? Canon iP6600D

Well I have the Cannon i960 and, I like it just fine. But they do use the ink at a good rate. Especially in high quality. But it does do an excellent job of reproduction.

Any of the Canon iP series will be excellent.

The Epson R300 (or 320) might also fit your budget.

I'd stay away from HP though.

I will agree there the HP's stink badly for photo reproduction. I had one and, it would wash the colors.
