200 gig HD will still not format!

Let me apologize if this has been addressed in the past. I have looked but can't find anymore help as the search feature is still disabled.

System:

Asus A7N8X-1 year old
Athlon XP-2700
512 mb Corsair PC-3200 Ram
1 80 gig wd as OS drive
1 100 gig wd mirror array (ide rocket raid card)
1 200 gig wd hd (tried both on boards ide chanel as well as mirror array)
500 watt sparkle psu
Base settings no oc

OS-Win 2k

I have tried several ways to get these 200 gig hd's to format. I have tried as single drive and as array. Every time it gets to 68 (yes the 137 barrier) percent and stops formating. I have upgraded this boards bios to the latest version ( 1007 I think) I have edited the registry like micosoft suggests. Nothing appears to work. I can partion it to 125 and format it fine. but I can't get the second partion to format or the whole disc as a single partion. This is a workstation not a gaming machine and swapping to xp is not really an option for this machine at this time.

Anyone else had this prob and beat it?

Sorry, I failed to mention I am current with all windows updates to date.

both maxtor and wd provide tools for you to format the harddisk within windows

i have a 160gigger, i partitioned and formatted it within windows using maxblast from maxtor, works like a charm.
