If I intend on gaming only a little, basically Enemy Territory of HL2 or maybe even Starcraft..

i'll be primarily using the monitor for web surfing/watching TV/DVDs/e-mail/AIM and misc computer stuff

which should i go with? i currently use 2 17" and i think that it's not enough room yet and i want to go higher up and maybe use the 2 17's on the side for a tri-display but should i go 20 or 24 for what i'll be using my monitor for?

btw, i want 1600x1200 so no widescreen on the 20" or the dell 24"

Well I dont think anyone makes a 24 inch panel in 4:3 so a 24 inch panel with 1600x1200 is out of the question.

If you want a solid 20 inch with an S-IPS panel check out the NEC 2070NX.

QFT.

AFAIK, the biggest 4:3 panels are 21".

oh i know that, i meant to say, i want a 20" at 1600x1200 or a 24" at 1920x1200, i was just too lazy to type it.

24 inch. For most everything it is awesome. The only reason I recommend a 20 over a 24 is if you worry about buying new video cards to support 1920x1200 (you won't have that problem) or price. So if price isn't a concern go 24" widescreen.
