Hi guys I have been reading the forums here quite a bit and it has helped me get an idea of what is good and what is not etc I just had a problem because a few of the monitors never get mentioned much so not sure if they are too expensive and not worth the money or bad quality etc, so that's why I am here to see if anyone can give their opinion or maybe have a friend etc who have one of these.

Acer F20
Asus PW201
HP 2105
Dell 2007fwp

I know the asus and acer both have the glossy screen so not sure if this is a bad thing or if it looks good. The HP, Dell and Asus all got very good reviews and tests from the sites i saw, not that it means much but its all i have to go on so I would appreciate any help guys because I am buying one in the next week or so. I am normally not a big HP or Dell fan but after looking into it I see they have good screens in their shell so I would be foolish not to consider them. Anyways guys thanks for the help it's a tough choice but hope you guys can help me narrow this down, its driving me crazy :).

Take care

I can't STAND the glossy crap. I don't want to look into a screen that's reflective enough to shave with while its on.

Supposedly, the colors are better on monitors that have that. (They call that crap clearview). I ask you: How is it clear if you can't see anything through the reflections? he only way I could tolerate one of those things is if I operated it in a dark room with no ambient light.

I don't know anything about the HP screen other than it says HP on it. The Dell 2007WFP is a good monitor with good image quality and it can be had for a good price. I don't like Dell typically either, but they've made great monitors for awhile now.

i got a 2007fpw ... buy it you wont be upset, plus it comes standard with 3 yr waranty. perfect.

There is plenty of info here about the Dell 2007FPW and also a good bit about the Acer F-20. As I just so happen to have both of those monitors on my desk as we speak I can tell you this: As far as features go the Dell wins hands down..nothing in this price range can touch it. Sadly however it must go because unlike the gentleman above I simply cannot stand anti-glare screen coatings and the Dell seems to have one of the worst. The F-20 once you get past the bling paintjob is simply a basic monitor which gives equal if not better picture quality than the Dell (because of the Crystalbrite coating) but doesn't offer many of the extras which may or may not be important to you.

As far as the Gateway...I really can't say. The Asus seems to have everything I want (excellent stand, glossy panel, component inputs) but the price just doesn't seem worth it when you take into account other panels in the price range. The useless webcam needlessly adds to the cost I'm sure..

Yeah guys i have to be honest until i came and started reading the forums here, I had never considered the Dell all that much, I mean I had a friend who was looking to buy a new monitor and mentioned to me that the Dell was rated one of the best so got me thinking a bit, but after comming here i see it is by far the most popular one with people. At one point I was pretty sure i was going to go with the lg204wt or something because on paper the stats seemed outstanding, but after comming on here i started to read about s-ips etc and different screens from lg and samsung which really opened my eyes to things i had never known as far as top end screens.
I guess with the s-ips i just worry about how they typically run games, I mean i'm no perfectionist by any means i just want to get a high end monitor that is all around good but picture quality is most important to me but hey if you can get the different connections and stuff why not hehe :). The 16ms sounded high when you hear some of these 6ms or even 2ms but if there is barely any difference then i would think picture quality would be the way to go.
The problem with some of the monitors i listed is other then the HP and maybe Dell at costco but not sure i dont have membership there, basically its hard to find a place that has the asus or acer on display to get a first had look at what your dealing with with screen glares and stuff and overall quality.
All the posts so far have been great though guys and they really help narrow down the choice for sure, lets face it we can't really go by the the guys who make them are saying so having access to here is priceless, i mean you get first hand information and experiences from people who have the products etc so that is just awesome :).
i Just saw the dell on sale the other day for $360 or something but i never checked their sites before so i thought maybe they were always that price but now i see they are back up to $499 here.
Cnet gave the Asus , HP and Dell all really good reviews so doesnt make the choice easy hehe and when your talking about a fairly big purchase you want to make sure to get the best one for the buck because your going to have the thing for a few years anyways or at least hopefully lol.
Thanks for the good posts so far guys i really appreciate it and look forward to anything any info or opinions anyone has on the Asus, HP, Dell or Acer f20 but im starting to lean more towards the Dell and maybe Asus right now from the way things are sounding with the Dell in the lead :).
Thanks again guys sorry for the long posts i get carried away sometimes when i get typing , take care

If Asus would ditch the webcam and/or knock about $100 off the MSRP then I would choose it over the Dell. The PW201 and 2007FPW have similar feature sets (the Asus has component inputs lacking in the Dell though) but to me the Asus wins for the awesome, fully adjustable stand, glossy black bezel and glossy screen coating. The S-IPS vs P-MVA issue is not enough to win for the Dell because both have strengths and weaknesses and the fact is there isn't a huge gap in real world performance.

Ya I think i will go for the Asus PW201 i mean it's a bit expensive but it has so many connections and the look alone is one of the best out there IMO minus that stupid web cam like you said hehe. I dont believe the PW201 is hd compatible but i dont mind that because i mainly use my computer for games some internet and the odd movie but for the most part i watch my movies on tv.
The Dell gets such good reviews on here from people so it's hard to get away from it but I found myself always thinking about the Asus but wasnt sure on the clear glossy coating on the screen but lot of people love it and lots hate it. I was just remembering when i my old crt first died last year and i got my first lcd monitor to replace it, i really noticed how the picture quality at the time didnt seem as good as my crt but the text and stuff looked much better on the lcd as well as brightness was great but that being said the glossy screen on the crt didnt seem to bother me so i hope that going with the Asus the glossy won't also but only time will tell i guess :).
