ok, i have two questions.

one: if i got a a64 3000+ and mushkin pc 3500 level one ram i would have to oc the a64 to a core speed of 216-217(which isnt abnormal for a a64 right???) and run it at a 1:1 ratio to take full advantage of the ram right?

two: are the chips on the mushkin pc 3500 lvl 1(ch-5 i think) in ANY danger having production on them stoped like the bh5??

its not necessary to take "full advantage" of the ram. try running the ram at 200mhz and with 2-2-2-11 timings or something around there. but if you want to overclock to 216mhz i doubt it would be too hard.....

mushkin level 1 is in no more danger than any other kind of ram out there. and what does it matter, ch-5 isnt all that sweet. if they DO replace ch-5 with somethin WORSE(?) than the mushkin levle 1 is probebly going to be around longer than the rest of the other ram.

remember, they didnt just choose to stop making bh-5. they ran out of it. mushkin was the last supplier who was still selling it.

bh-5 stopped being manufactured because ch-5 costs them alot less money to make, and only about 1/100 computer uses either know or care whether they are getting ch-5 or bh-5.

the computer market is for the average grandma buying from an OEM company like dell who just wants to check her email. the real enthusiests make up a small %.

and mushkin ram in general is good ram. the main thing about pc3500 level 1 is that it costs about the same as pc3200, but it gives you the extra room to overclock.

i know, but i dought the av. grandma know swether to get mushkin or somthing else. mushkin and corsiar ect. ARE playing twords us, so why kill their best performing chip? its kinda like the p4expensive edition(excuse the steel fom the inq, but i love that nick name)

they didnt have a choice when they stopped production on lvl2. there simply wasnt enough bh-5 left.

incase you didnt know, mushkin doesnt make the bh-5 chips, they bought them from another manufacturer. i forgot who the manufacturer was, probebly winbond or something.

It's not Corsair or Mushkin or anyone else's choice that the BH-5 went the way of the dodo. Winbond, the chip manufacturers, decided it was too expensive to make BH-5 chips and so stopped producing them because of cost and the small enthusiast market.

Although I hear that they might start making them again.

edit: James, beat me to it!
