question 1:
could a 250 watt psu power a readon 9800 pro?

question 2:
this question is to people that have cs:s

aproximatley how many fps could i get with a 2.5 ghz 512 ram 9800 pro in cs:s in 800-600 res with medium settings?

I can answer question 1 for ya. NO

I read somewhere you need a minimum of 300 watts to run a 9800 pro.

Sure, as long as it's a high quality power supply and the only other things powered by it are one 7200rpm or below HD and one cdrom. ;)

it really matters about the quality of the psu. do you know the brand/model?

i would imagine you would get playable frame rates with that setup at 1024 at high detail

well i went here http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/ and right know im only using 210 watts with my current graphics card.. and with the 9800 pro im using 234 watts so i have 16 watts to spare, but you also have to remember that the site only shows the wattage for PEAK wattage usage

"The total amount this calculator figures is for all devices running at peak utilization. It is important to bear in mind that this amount will never be reached under typical operation"

so it looks like i can get it :)

we have a HP pavillion intel 2.4/533 512 ram 9800 pro dvd, cdplayer one hdd
works fine no power problems

My GF just built a SFF MSI machine w/ a 7200RPM drive, CD-DVD combo, 3ghz P4, and 9800Pro. The MSI barebones kit she used (Mega 865) came w/ a 200w PSU and it woks great through hours of gaming and is never turned off, so I would say that yes, a good quality 250w PSU can power a 9800Pro. Now, you said it was a Dell PSU but I'm assuming that Dell does not actually makee PSUs, instead they hire some other company to do it for them. The trick will be figuring out what kind of PSU it REALLY is and trying to guess form there....
