I have 2 monitors in my room, a 60hertz LCD pannel and a 75hertz CRT.

I switch between them often and have to deal with having to change the videocard frequancy. Is there a way to set an icon or something to swap the 2? A simple way to prevent having to spend 3 minutes finding the right menu and changing the frequancy?

And, no, I prefer NOT to put a second videocard in the machine (I dont think I have anymore that fit anyway wiht the AGP standard change...))

Are you trying to say your are physically unplugging one monitor and swapping it with another on a daily basis?

I think your best bet would be to buy a cheap AGP video card that can do dual monitors.

heh... as lame as it sounds, yes, I have an extention cord and can swap from one monitor to the other fairly easily...

I have wireless sound and remote for my PC and at night like to swap to the big screen accross the room and use it as a TV/sterio since I can turn it off with my remote.

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card? If you use the "NVIDIA Settings" tray application, you can click on it and change the refresh rate through the menu... If you have some other card, there might be a 3rd-party utility that can also do this.

BTW, it's "frequency".

I _had_ an Nvidea card, but it burned up in under an hour (see my prior thread) So I'm stuck using the onboard video again, which is an S3 chip

What are you using for video now? If you have a video card with two video outs (eg. VGA and DVI) you can just hook each monitor up to one of the outputs, and run a dual display setup.

If you have an ATI graphics card, then you can change the properties of each monitor from the Display Properties (right-click on desktop, click "Properties". Click on the "Settings" tab at the top). ATI lists each monitor separately, as "PRIMARY" and "SECONDARY".
