As crazy as it may sound. I have 2 computers on my desk here, I want to use one of them for a server. Therefor it would be a waste to buy a monitor for it just to use it very rarely. So i'm wondering, since my monitor has both digital and an analog port, what if I plugged in the digital into computer #1, and plugged the analog into computer #2, and then maybe found some software that would allow the image of computer #2 to be really small?

Is this possible heh?

Thanks

get a tv/moniter w/ dvi and vga support. than plug em both in...and do picture in picture. lol, thats really overkill tho. maybe there should be some program that allows it. but this way, if you alrady have a tv/moniter with those imputs it and PIP, it shoul dbe pretty easy

i have a nec fp1350x and i run 2 pcs on it one on the dvi and one on the analog all i do is hit the button to switch between the dvi signal and the vga signal

If you hardly use the server, why don't you just put a remote control software on it. No mess no fuss.

Agreed and another possibility is to use a switcher for keyboard/mouse/vga. I used a few at work for controlling 2 pc with 1 set of keyboard/mouse/vga.

What OS is the server? If it's, say, Windows 2003, just use Remote Desktop to log into it. If it's Linux or *BSD, use SSH. No need to have a monitor except during install time or if something catastrophic happens.

Easiest thing to do is just buy a KVM switch.
