2.8C, max voltage?

Just want to know what the max voltage I should attempt to throw at this thing. This is on the system in my sig. From what I am reading, it sounds like I am as far as I am going get on this chip, but it's not as stable as I would like it to be. I have my ram at 5:4 right now and FSB at 243mhz. I'm not getting any memory errors since its about 6mhz under. My temps seem to be okay(43C or so). I'm thinking it might need some more juice. Is 1.7v something I want to stop at?

Personally i wouldn't give it more than 1.6 for day to day use but some would say 1.65 is ok. ( day to day)

With an Intel rig you want to always keep it at 1:1. It isnt like AMD where the ram can be phased out. Intel takes a performance hit when using dividers. OC with Intel is very dependant on your ram.

I would never take the C past 1.6v. If you have a magical chip, or excellent cooling-1.65.

Just grab some pc4000, kick the fsb to 250 1:1...and be happy with 3.5Ghz and good temps...as Northys usually run cool :)
 
I actually get better performance with 5:4 and 2.5-2-2-5 @ 272 then I do at 255 @ 3-4-3-8@ 1:1.

Of course thats a ram issue, if i had the volts or tccd to get over 255fsb in 1:1.....well...

Northwood C's are less prone to SNDS than earlier Northwoods. Regaurdless, I still wouldn't run a Northwood over 1.7. Make sure you have good cooling if your run your voltage that high.
 
5:4 ratio with cas 2 PC3500 RAM running at 400 MHz memory speeds benchmarked faster than my lastest 'upgrade' of
1:1 ratio with cas 2.5 PC4000 RAM running at 500 MHz memory speeds benchmarked.

on overall system performance...so the 1:1 vs. 5:4 statement about 1:1 being always faster isn't true...

p4 2.4 C @ 3.0 GHz
PC 3500 Geil Golden Dragon CAS 2
PC 4000 Geil Ultimate whatever CAS 2.5

part of the deal maybe that with the 1:1 ratio I can't run my motherboard in turbo mode(a setting on the IS7 boards), only normal...so maybe that makes a bunch of difference.
 
I run my 2.6C at 3.3 with 1.7v in bios (cpu-z claims 1.63-1.68)

Have been running this way for well over a year, and I almost never turn off the computer. It seems perfectly fine to me with my air cooling.
 
so my memory is whats most likely holding me back? I kind of figured that since it doesn't seem to be a popular brand around here. Plus I should have known that going for 400 ram wasn't going to leave me with much OC overhead. I guess its time for yet another upgrade. I'm having trouble getting this thing stable at 3.4ghz. Kind of annoying. I thought for sure I could reach that with what I have. Or maybe I'm not doing it right.
