i just purchased a costa rican 2.4c and an abit is7 vanilla. i have 2 sticks of corsair xms 3200 512mb, running dual channel for a total of 1gb of mem. specs on ram are 2-3-3-6. running it at 5:4 with nb strap set to 800, and memory speeds manually input. i have the agp/pci locked to stock speeds, and i have my memory voltage at 2.8v. i turned my agp voltage up to 1.6 for the hell of it, and my cpu voltage set to 1.7v for cooling i have a zalman copper heatsink with a thermaltake volcano 7 80mm fan. there is a zalman duct directing the air back to 2 80mm thermaltake case fans to pull the air striaght out of case.

i currently have the cpu clocked to 2.8, and mbm says my temps stay at 52-53 during prime95 tests, but prime95 always finds an error. my buddy has this same board and proc running at 3.0, and with all the sucess stories ive heard i am confused as to why i cannot achieve a stable 2.8?
 
well, most 2.4c can hit 3.0 easily. there has been a problem with the 4:5 dividers, so im thinking that may be the problem, or it could be your nb strap. i dont really remember the nb strap setting, but i think your suppose to set it by cpu. you memory voltage shouldnt need to run at 2.8v at defualt speedsm unless your memory is running higher than default. i have a 2.4c from costa rica, and im doing 3.3ghz @ 1.575v.

not sure what 4:5 dividers are. i had nb strap set to by cpu first, same thing. if i turn the memory voltage down it seems to error out faster. think lowering my cpu voltage to 1.575 might help?
 
turned memory volts down to 2.6v per specs, and turned cpu coltage down to 1.575v, still halts after about 6 minutes, but now temps stay at ~50
 
with this board, you are going to need to set your GAT (game accelerator technology) settings up correctly in order to oc with teh divider. set them in this order: auto, normal, auto, disabled, disabled. also, dl the latest bios, as it has a fix for over-reporting high temps. right now i have my 2.6c @ 3.15 and it idles at around 32-33 with an ambient of 30. i dont feel that prime95 is the end all verdict as to whether your comp is stable either. my rig fails prime95 but it has never rebooted during 3dmark or when i play call of duty.
 
set your CAS to 2.5, then try the P95 again, and please lower that core voltage!!!!

3GHz should be stock voltage.

with a volcano 7 fan instead of the zalman one, and im using the bubble. memtext86 has been running for 9.5 hours with no errors. i am going out so i will let it run for 12 hours before i reboot and try the gat settings. just making sure my temps arent an issue, keeping in mind i have not updated the bios so the temps are overreporting. also i am currently running at 1.575v. too high? too low? just right?
 
Get new cooling, 52c it hot++. Maybe if you update the bios, you can OC a bit more, I suggest you do that...
 
your heatsink isnt the greatest one possible, but i dont think the heat is limiting you from a better oc. 52 load is an acceptable temp. if it were 60 or higher i would start to worry. i wouldnt put the vcore anything higher than 1.65 due to the sudden northwood death syndrome. the only way you are gonna find out if its too high or low is by testing it. basically if your comp has a sudden reboot or wont load windows then you need more voltage.
 
gotcha, memtest ran for 15 hours no errors, reset the gat settings and now prime 95 has been runnign for 30 minutes so far. best i could get before on blend was 9 minutes, so ill post again in 11 hours and 30 minutes ;) temps are now 49-50 degrees, still havnt done bios update. from what i understnad the temp isnt really that high, its just reporting wrong. so if i consider this correct then i will always be safe on temps.
 
stable at 2.8, and 11 hours and running at 2.9. seems like the gat settings did the trick. thanks alot, 3.0 is my goal, and im only 100mhz away :D
 
3.0 is bein a bit iffy. currently i have cpu up to 1.675v and memory at 2.65v my specs say it supports 2.6. 1.65 and 2.6 were not stable in prime95, currently running on the new #'s, will let it run tonight and see what happens.
 
please don't increase the voltages UNLESS you faced stability issues during OC. I'm running 1.55V Bios. 2.4C is rated to run at 1.475, 1.500, 1.525V
 
ive heard 1.7 is max for p4c's current system is finally stable at 1.675v on cpu and 2.65v on memory
 
puttin 2.8v into your mem is fine, try that out maybe. as to vcore, i wouldnt go any higher than 1.675 on air.
