I'm looking for a new set of 2.1 speaker for my computer. I've had the Logitech x-230 for quite a while and am finally upgrading.

My budget is about $100, thanks in advance for all your suggestions.

I've got some Klipsch Promedia 2.1 that I like. They're very good for the price and I'm an audio nut. So by regular standards they probably sound amazing.

Oh and my bro has the Logitech 2300's and they're also pretty good, but like the clarity of the Klipsch better.

3 products you should keep your eyes peeled for:

Promedia 2.1
Logitech 2300
Swam M10

Not in any particular order.

In particular order:

Swan M10 : Waaaaaay better for music than Klipsch. Best sounding 2.1 in your price range no doubt. Not as much BOOOOM though.

Klipsch: BOOM BOOM tweet tweet. Loud and bassy but lacks detail.

Logitech: crap.

I'm considering getting a pair of headphones (Audio Technica ATH-A700) and maybe a small upgrade on the speakers.

I do use the speakers almost entirely for gaming/movies and put on the headphones when other people are around. I don't think the Swans would be a good choice because of the lack of bass I seem to notice in most reviews. Plus, the knob on the woofer would really bother me.

I think the Klipsch may be a bit too much, are the Logitech Z4 speakers any good? Would I notice a difference from my x-230? Or would I be better off with the z-2300? How much better are the 2300s compared to something like the Z4?

If you want bass from headphones then the A700 is the Swan all over again.

Simple choice: bass and volume quantity or sound quality

I had a set of the Promedia 4.1's (R.I.P.) and they were the most amazing computer speakers I've ever heard. I've tried a bunch of times to fix them, but there is something wrong with the amp. This was a common problem after a long time w/ the 4.1's but I don't think there were any issues w/ the 2.1's.

I think the low end and overall loudness of the z2300's are the biggest increases from the x230's. I've heard the z4's in CC before and they sounded pretty good for the price, but personally I would go for the z2300's.

The x-540's (though 5.1) sound awesome for being so cheap and they're like $80-100 just like the z2300's. The bass response has improved over the x-530's IMO.

I just picked up a pair of Klipsch 2.1 Promedia's today at best buy for $99.99 to replace an older altec lansing 2.1 setup I had. The Klipsh blows it away in every detail! I love this setup!

It does have one metric shit ton of bass, I have the sub turned down quite a bit and it sounds great and clear. I can't imagine every needing to crank it up.

Yeah I roll my bass at 125Hz down because otherwise it's too boomy. Then I use the subwoofer control to tune it depending on my volume levels. Seems to be punchy and musical enough for me. Actually it took about 2-3 months for my sub to be fast enough for my liking.

I also just replaced my old Audigy 2 zs gamer with an X-fi xtremegamer, so I'm learning how to change it and the speakers, find the sweet spot, but I just can't get over how much better the speakers sound. I guess it doesn't help that my old set had been slowly dying, hissing and popping.

yeah, Promedias are $99 at Best Buy right now. I just bought some :)

I just saw that today... I stopped by BB to do a little early Christmas surveillance and I saw this sale item. It's a good one!

I listened to it and it brought me back to my first set of good speakers - the Promedia 4.1, the set that started this downward spiral of mine. Yes... it's a bad disease.

Anyway, I got to listen to them for a little bit today and they sounded just like I remembered them to.

Nice. I'm love these speakers so far.

Hey, I also noticed that you have a G35 coupe? From your sig.

I have an 07 G35S that I bought over the summer. I'm lovin it.

Supastar...

What can I say? Great minds think alike! Congrats on both accounts... the G and the Promedias. Though I think the G moreso than the Promedias. :)

Most people say that the A700 headphones pack a decent amount of bass, and overall are the best closed headphones for gaming on the market.

So the Swan M10's have a headphone jack? Might be a stupid question but i cant find the answer!
Sorry to thread jack :) From what ive read the M10's sound the best though.
