I'm really waitin 4 this monitor. S-PVA, 8ms. :)
I found out through a friend that Samung distributor already have small quantity in stock but they are not avavilable for sale yet. (no pricings, date, etc) :(
I've emailed them directly.. hopefully they can give me a rough date.
 
The Dell 1905fp as well as Viewsonic vp191 are getting upgraded panels which are close to the Samsung specs. One variant of the 1905fp has an AU Optronics 8ms panel with 700:1CR, and the Viewsonic also has an 8ms 800:1 panel. Both panels each have their own version of the overdrive technology that samsung is marketing. It seems that the black to white reponse times are the same as they were before, only the grey/grey times are 8ms. However, that isn't such a bad thing since mva/pva panels use to have 80-90ms grey/grey times. A 20ms black/white is about 50fps before you would see ghosting, so these'll probably make for pretty good gaming lcds.
 
Only bad thing is that i might buy 910T tomorrow.. cos i can get one for cheap too. or should i wait for da 193P+.. :(
 
If you can wait - I think that would be the best move at this point fwiiw ...
 
I really like that 1000:1 contrast ratio.

The only thing I hate is getting dead pixels, or overly bad backlight leakage.
 
Well, Samsung panels are usually top notch. Their PVA panels very rarely have bad pixels and never have backlight issues.

So PVA has superior viewing angles, contrast ratio, and has better production yields, so there is less defective panels (with dead pixels or backlight leakage, etc)?

What else is good about PVA based LCD panels? And what kind of panel does the Dell 2405fpw use? I know my Benq 937s uses a TN based panel, which is inferior so I'm curious as to what is out there and when should I upgrade?
 
whats the difference between the two? Also any good 24"+ widescreens that are good right now besides the sammy 243T?

The dell 2405 is a PVA panel. There are 3 different types of panels, S-IPS, Tn, PVA/MVA. Samsung worked on improving MVA panels, and thus came out with PVA. Only samsung manufacturers PVA panels, however there are a lot of co. that make MVA panels. Maybe stricter standards? I've heard that Samsung was considering coming out with a no dead-pixel policy on all of their PVA panels. Just that goes to show you their superiority in the lcd market. If you're interested in the differences between panels, read the sticky at the beginning of this forum. There's a link to a very lenghtly article over at Xbit labs that'll explain absolutely everything you've ever wanted to know. In short TN panels: poor CR, poor colors 262k dithered to 16.2M, poor viewing angles but they are fast. PVA, good CR, 16.7M colors not dithered, excellent viewing angles, but they use to be slow before the overdrive tech came out.

Which 2405 specs are better than the 193P+? Apart from brightness of the Dell which is logical since the display is much bigger they look about the same to me. What's the official specified response time of the 2405FPW?
 
The 2405 is 12ms typical (Grey to Grey) / 16ms typical (Black to White). The 193P+ will be 8ms grey/grey and more than likely 20ms black to white.
 
Just got reply from Samsung but they said 193P+ would be available mid :( this year.
i can't wait that long..
 
Yikes.. I can't understand why companies do this. They announce a product at a certain point, then can only deliver it months later...
 
it's to build up hype. The more people that know of whats coming out in the near future, the more people that will hold off on a screen now and pay the higher price for a better model. Also, the more it's discussed, to popularity it will get before it even comes out.
 
1920x1080 on a 82" screen? I wonder what is its pixel pitch. Probably around 1mm.
 
The best LCD screen for graphic designers today... until the 950P will appear on the market (1Q 2006).
 
A little OT but is the 2005fpw a PVA panel?


I assume it must be because I used to have a Viewsonic 19" 16ms and it was HORRID, terrible veiwing angles and the 16ms was no better than my previous 25ms. Now the 2005fpw is in another leage alltogether.

Right now it is in Danish, but I’m sure you can understand the results. I will make one in English later today and add 20 new monitors in my database.
