Hi guys,

I'm going to buy a new display next week or the week after, and I was looking for the "right one" :D. I finally managed to narrow down my list to these 2:

- Viewsonic VP2770 - for about $850
- Samsung S27B970D - for about $1030

The prices are so high cause I live in Hungary and we have a 27% VAT, thanks to our loving government :mad:

So as I was saying, those are the best choices I could pick based on reviews / forums / user opinions. I spend about 8 Hours / day browsing and reading all kinds of documents, and play all types of games as time permits :rolleyes:.

So, which one shall I buy? I love the design of the Samsung, and I'm note really bothered by the reflective glass (my wife has an iMac and I can work on it just fine if needed). But alas the Viewsonic has a better response time. And also both have a 3-year warranty. And I also could see user complaints about QC on both monitors.

So you see my problem. Any advice /suggestion is most welcome.
 
I've used both. I love the Samsung of it glossy display, but returned it and kept the Viewsonic. The Viewsonic is every bit as good, except for the non-glossy part. It's also considerably less expensive. Glossy ain't worth $200+ more money, IMO. You can get the Viewsonic for around $720 from Amazon, BTW. It's a fantastic monitor.
 
The Samsung is a joke if one wants blacks to be black and not gray, it is also far more reflective vs. a regular glossy monitor and suffers from PWM lottery. Some units have 180hz LED PWM Dimming Frequencies which is insulting considering the price.

The Viewsonic's blacks will looks the same as the NEC on the right in this image

Glass left vs. Glossy. The Glossy monitors blacks are actually black. I've owned both, the Viewsonic has less ghosting than the Samsung and is completely free from overshoot ghosting.
 
Well, thanks for the comments and votes guys, it pretty much nails it down :D. I'll give it a shot and hopefully by next week I'll have this gorgeous screen sitting on my desktop.

I'd like to ask a moderator to close this thread if necessary, as I've made up my mind.
 
Oh, well, I have bad news. It seems that I can't find this beauty in shops anymore, and really wouldn't want to order from outside my country (I'd hate to wait 1-2 weeks for it to arrive, and have a defective unit :mad:)

So, I thought I'd give it a try and put int an order for the BenQ BL2710PT. I'll let you know my impressions as soon as it'll arrive :D
