TR apparently has their hands on 13.2 beta drivers. At least in the small sample they have (7950 on 3 games), it reduced frame latency significantly. It also did reduce the performance in Guild Wars, but not in Skyrim or Borderlands. Sounds like the 12.11 drivers may have overtweaked some things. Should be seeing good results with these new drivers, however.

What is interesting in that article is the nvidia comment on the question to be asked is why nvidia didnt have the problem.

Apparently they have been focusing on this since Fermi
 
It's funny because I got a 7970 at xmas and gave my old 570 to my little brother as his gift.

Playing mostly the same games, but I did notice the difference in smoothness, but never really realized what it was.

I'm hopeful for these new drivers.
 
Techpowerup has the 13.1 drivers on the main page if AMD hasn't updated their site yet.
 
Can anyone rehost the 13.2 somewhere else? Its so slow and then I couldn't even access SendSpace any longer!

Oh, and 13.1 seems to have a fatal flaw for my use - it fails to install the HDMI Audio driver properly, which is too bad because I am looking for the driver package for my laptop, which I use HDMI out sometimes! Others report the same issue. FOr the record, my card is a Mobility 5670. If 13.2 doesn't work, I'll need to roll back to 12.11 beta...
 
Ugh. This has not been pleasant. 13.2 didn't fix the issue that 13.1 had when it came to installing HDMI Audio drivers. Now, after an uninstall etc... trying to reinstall 12.11 Beta 11 still isn't allowing me to install HDMI Audio drivers or even the display driver! Seems like the drivers are leaving behind garbage - haven't had this issue in awhile. Anyone know which driver cleaning program is capable of working on Windows 8 x64 etc...? Seems they're all payware and many of them don't seem to be updated recently!

I didn't mind the issue that it didn't install the HDMI Audio drivers.

I have for the longest time for the past several years been installing the Realtek ATI HDMI Audio Device drivers directly from their website. I have had better experience with those drivers than those included with the Catalyst drivers.

You can download them here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

From there, click on High Definition Audio Codecs (Software).

Then, click on ATI HDMI Audio Device, version 2.70.

That is extremely helpful. Are those drivers sufficient for pretty much any and all cards (in my case, a Mobility 5670 installed in a few-years older-model Envy14 Radiance display) with HDMI out? I'll have to check the Linux version of Catalyst 13.1 as well; I cannot remember if that package comes with HDMI audio drivers or not..
 
From what I have read, 13.2 is a targeted beta driver for fps lag and does not have all the files needed. I wouldn't use it to try to repair any other problem except fps lag, and I wouldn't be surprised it would cause other problems even if it fixes fps lag.

I would install it on a spare dual boot partition if anything first.

Did you read the article? It explains what the problem is, what their current bandaid fix is, and what they're going to be working on for the future to solve it in a more meaningful way.
