12ms and 16ms, noticeable diff?

Just curious because there is some pretty good deals on the older 16ms 19" panels (rebates and such) and i really need a good gaming lcd. The viewsonic vx910 has a $100 rebate, but it is a 16ms panel. I see the newer 12ms panels are about $100+ more expensive and wonder if its worth the 100 bux.

I got the VX910 for gaming and regret it because, although it doesn't ghost, its blurs when you turn in shooters.

I don't even think i'll play half life 2 on it, i'll set up my old 17" crt so I don't ruin the game with blur. Some people they they don't notice the blur....

If i were american and could send things back without faults, i'd trade it for a 21" crt.

Its a great lcd for everything else.
 
Thats what I was affraid of, I have a good 19" crt now, just tired of the heat it puts out and the space it takes up, guess I will wait though.
 
Well the problem is you can get a 16ms panel that ghosts LESS than a 12ms panel.

So you cant get really accept a blanket statement that 12ms are "worth the extra $100" when in reality it should be "is the 16ms worth the extra $100 over the 12ms..." which sounds funny because in theory you would expect all 12ms to be better than all 16ms.
 
Some people don't notice the blur because even if there isn't any caused by the screens slow response time, their eyes see a blur anyway due to the fast movement, so it doesn't matter whether the blur was due to the screen or not...others don't see a blur due to the motion, so they are able to see the blur being caused by the screen...yet some are annoyed by this, and some aren't..

But since manufacturer testing standards and measurements can vary, a 16ms screen can have a lot less ghosting and blur than another's 12ms...also take into account the quality of the panels and electronics can be different and affect the screen quality...Read plenty of reviews, and then see the monitor for yourself (if you can)!

LED backlit LCDs are just around the corner, and should raise the bar even higher!
 
I'm going to take this opportunity to plug the NEC MultiSync 1760NX. It's a 16ms LCD and I do *a lot* of gaming on it and I think it's shibby. I think the image is very sharp and I don't notice a blur very much, if any. Whatever you do, definately use DVI. Just don't spend $80 on a cable from Best Buy. ;)
