Hey guys, Im having this problem with my display. Starting yesterday, my 1024x768 desktop started looking really bad. It looks as if the pixels are much bigger, text looks really bad, and games running at 1024x768 also look bad. I have a 9800 AIW pro, and the new catylist drivers, i uninstalled them and the control panel, and reinstalled, no change.

Another problem that started at the same time was in NFSU. When Im driving, the faster i go, the darker my screen gets, and if i go to fast, i can't see anything at all. That really sucks bad, cause i like going fast! :)

Well it could be the holo transmitter field modulator if your using a holodeck display.:D Knowing what kind of display and or size may aid people in helping you as it is the main component in your quest for aid. What about other resolutions, and other games.

Its a 17" Hitachi CML174. 1024x768 and 800x600 are the only resolutions that look bad on the desktop. I used to run at 1024x768 with no problems, but now I'm at my screens native resolution of 1280x1024.

My only concern is that when I can only run a game at 1024x768 its going to look bad. Right now I can run just about every game above that, so it's not the end of the world. But when HL2 comes out I doubt I'll be able to run above it.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Ramfart.

I'd look through the monitors menus for settings related to how it does scaling.
There's probably an "anti aliasing" switch of some sort in there somewhere.
When running in a non-native mode an LCD basically has three choices- double-size some of the pixels, just use a part of the display area so every logical pixel uses one physical pixel and you get black borders, or smooth the pixels together. You probably want the last one, and I bet it's doing the first one, since just doubling some of the pixels will look pretty horrid.

are you talking about a menu for the monitors driver, or the built in menu on the monitor, because on the LCD's built in menu, there was nothing like that zandor.

Now that i think about, i think the game farcry was the beginning of my problems. I tried to run it with anti-aliasing but it seemed to turn all the textures transparent... should i uninstall the demo for farcry?

I was talking about the monitor's menus, not a driver setting. It might have some really odd name or might not be there at all.
