CNN Money has a very handy list of 10 ways to master your e-mail posted today that everyone should read. Some of the stuff on the list is pretty obvious but, as with most common sense items, most of us don’t take things seriously until after there is a problem. Check out the list and try one or two of the techniques, it can’t hurt.

Here is a startling bit of arithmetic: If you get and send 100 e-mails a day, that adds up to 24,000 messages annually, on which you probably spend an average of 100 workdays. If you could manage to reduce the amount of e-mail you send and receive by 20%, you'd free up 20 workdays a year to use for other things

It takes 100 days to do 24,000 emails? I must be fast then.

now I'm not a genius mathematician but wouldn't

100 emails a day make out to be 36,500 emails annually?

100(365)=36,500

Only if you work 365 days/year.

There should, in any given year, be around 104 days that are saturdays or sundays, and so wouldn't be work days (=261).

To come out to 24,000 emails, they're assuming that you don't work weekends and have 3 weeks of vacation, since of course, no one ever gets emails when they're on vacations...[/sarcasm]
