I left my HP deskjet printer in a tin garden shed for over a year, i thought i had crapped itself somehow cos it refused to print documents and tried to fix it without success, anyway i went thru the shed one day and then thought i might give it another go...the bloody thing actually works prefectly :p Anyway a printer in a tin shed surviving the Australian summer heat for a couple of years, thats gotta say something.

I reckon most of that stuff shouldnt have many problems, i doubt the attic would get extremely hot. Anyway if its like spare parts theyre not exactly crucial stuff.
 
I dont think the problem will be heat for "unused" stuff, but the humidity/moisture WILL. Although "a cool, dry place" always works best.:cool:
 
yea, humidity is a bastard, maybe get some of that 'do not eat' silica gel stuff to absorb excess moisture?
 
You know, there's no reason that stuff should say do not eat... unless you feel like engulfing a cereal bowl full of it
 
go to payless and look in the shoe boxes and take the do not eat thingy:) :D thats what i do:D
 
Dry heat isn't the enemy, moisture is. If it's truly dry up there, unless you get much above 80C, it's no worries.

How about when it's hot muggy / cold and damp and raining like hell outside? How dry, humidity wise, is this space? That's what I'd worry lots more about....

hehe yeah if its 80C I'm gonna be doing something other than worrying about my computer equipment. But then again, in midsummer in the house I grew up in, in Virginia (Richmond area) I can remember going into the attack and nearly getting knocked down by the heat that was up there. Could have been from going from an AC'd room into that hot space though.
 
When I go into my mother's attic it's like walking into a blanket of heat. VA has nothing on TX for heat in the summer. ;)
