So just got another 1TB GD and all was going great for about 2 hrs or so then next bootup the BIOS doesnt see it. Get in windows and of course not there. Since then havent seen the HD. Ive tried all sata cables I got, ubpluged existing cables that were working the other 1TB to see if it would boot but nothing. One thing tho is that the drive is spinning and getting power but not getting reconized.

Is it a dud? I formated when it was first working but now it doesnt show up, also using it as storage only.

Give me some more ideas to try, bc I got a brain fart and got other things right now more important to think about lol...

If you have all the bios updates try different sata plugs and cables including power. If that fails it sounds like a dud.

Did you try another sata port, maybe one that you know is working? Also, if you are using a sata port on your mb and you're overclocking, reset things to stock and see if that helps. From the looks of your sig it looks like you're not, just thought I'd throw it out there. If you've already tried all that and it still doesn't work, then I guess RMA.

Sounds like a dead drive to me, but one other thing you can try. If you have access to another system try it there.

Try moving a power plug from a working drive. You might have 12v, but no or weak 5v. Unplug any unneeded devices for a minimum config bootup. Reset your bios settings to default compatible. Whack it with a screwdriver handle.

If the Bios is not seeing it, it sounds like the control board on the drive is dead.
