I ran prime95 and came up with an error right off the bat using some DDR2 667 pushed to 800MHz 4-4-4-8. tonight im going to try 767MHz for some stability, but before i try it, i was wondering what would be better for gaming... playing with the bus speeds and possibly raising my timings (5-5-5-7 possibly?), or knocking the bus speed back down to 667 and lowering the timings to 3-4-3-6?

That will effectively net you the same performance. Looser timings with high speed, or lower speed with tight timing......all be about the same

Exactly.

If you have to loosen the timings by more than 1 setting to be stable at 800mhz over 767, I'd consider running at 767. In all reality, just try to push your RAM as high as it can go without loosening your timings more than 1 (over it's rating) for each category.

There are other mentalities on the subject, but the above one is mine. Feel free to dispute or disprove it, but it's always worked in my favour.

Of course, if you can loosen your timings, and heighten your bus speed in order to get your CPU higher, by all means do this. CPU speed really is everything... At least for now in the AMD world.

Thanks guys, i went ahead and knocked it down to 767 with 4-4-4-8 timings. will run tests later tonight.
