Im running a 2.8c at 3.3ghz in an IC7-G max2... Im a little worried about my vcore being at 1.7 ... is there a reason to be worried? I can't get a stable 3.3 without 1.7 and I can't even hit 3.4... I will get a blue screen flash when it comes to the load windows screen then a restart. I can't see the blue screen because it restarts so quick. Just need reassurance that 1.7 won't kill my cpu or anything... thanks!

wow that seems pretty high to me... i would never go that high. but i guess as long as temps are ok...

temps are fine... tops at 50c. Im about to put a ninja on it and that will probably drop it even more... so yu think 1.7 is too high? should I just back down to 3.2, 1.675vcore and cut my losses?

1.7 is definitely too high for an Intel for 24/7 running.

if the 2.8 tops out at 3.3 with 1.7 volts, i am sorry to say but it's a pretty bad overclocker, i'd ease up a lot, 200 Mhz on an P4 don't make much difference at all.

its not the temps that kill. You could sit at room temp with a 1.7 vcore and the chip would still die, electromigration is a bitch I killed a .13 athlon running too much juice thru it (sudden t-bred death syndrome).

ok...

1.66vcore (set it to 1.65 in bios)

is this good?

im not too familiar with the newer P4's if you are a .09 chip i wouldnt go above 1.5v myself. but its your chipand if you can afford a new one if you toast yours then pump as much juice as you need thru it and dont bother with what we say.

Sudden Northwood Death Syndrome happens above 1.65. ;)

Also, Visable-assassin, the "C" at the end of the mhz denotes the core. "C" is Northwood and "E" is Prescott. :p

Like i said bro I havent payed attention to Intel for a bit so my memory is slipping LOL

Northwood C's are not nearly as prone to SNDS as the earlier Northwood A and B's. 1.7v is the absolute maximum I would run for an everyday system. Just make sure you have good enough cooling.
