Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I have logitech Z-640 speakers, I am thinking about getting a new soundcard (X-Fi extreme music), but i want to know if the X-Fi would be overkill for my speakers since they are pretty cheap.
i dont think it would be OVERKILL, but you would not be able to get the full experiance. From your sig, it looks like youy are using onboard sound, so it would be better, espicially the sound effects in games, but if you are planing on upgrading your speakers soon (within like 6-8 months) then definitly go fo the x-fi, or if you dont want to spent that much money then maybe consider an Audigy 2zs.
Hope this helps!
Think of the sound card as a guitar player and your speakers are the guitar. A good player can make great sound on any guitar, sure it wont be at the fullest potential, but you'll be able to once you upgrade your speakers someday.
I would look at the Audigy2 ZS and get some good speakers. I'm very particular about the way things sound and I have a Audigy2 ZS. Your speakers are the most important part of good sound. There is no way you will shake the floor with speakers the size of a quarter.
