Not only is this porn company the biggest copyright troll in the U.S., it filed fifteen times as many lawsuits as its closest competitor.

A report crunching more than six years of copyright lawsuits filed in the U.S. has revealed that porn troll Malibu Media is the country's most litigious plaintiff. The company, which demands thousands of dollars from individual file-sharers, filed 4,332 lawsuits since January 2009, fifteen times more than its nearest rival. Overall, it's estimated that 90% of file-sharing cases are settled out of court.

"One federal judge has compared its lawsuits to an “extortion scheme” writing that many defendants, whether they committed copyright infringement or not, would rather settle than face the costs and potential embarrassment of fighting their cases."

It is extortion. The cost of defending and the potential personal embarrassment far outweigh the settlement offer.

Heck, it'd be illegal if they sent this stuff out on mass mailing (untargeted) and did the same thing. But because they have a single IP#, it's legal.

I'd love it if everyone with a VPN/Proxy just started downloading their stuff non stop. Run up their costs for people they can't touch.

I'm a pirate.
But if I were running a porn business, or any business where I had to pay employees, I would sue the pants off everyone too.
Yes, double standards.

i wouldn't. I'd use that thing in my head called a brain and change my outdated business model to a more modern version, while keeping that old classic thing that is now lost with most other "modern" versions, customer satisfaction.

But i'm different like that.

So they can E.A.D!

(eat a dick)
