I know what you are thinking, a million bucks isn't much to a billionaire like Musk, but I think this is cool as hell anyway.

The billionaire owner of Tesla Motors is giving $1 million to the Suffolk County museum dedicated to preserving the legacy of the inventor who inspired its name. The Tesla Science Center announced Elon Musk's donation on what would have been Nikola Tesla's 158th birthday.

Plus the Supercharging station on the grounds of the museum is a nice touch too.

Go Oatmeal!

He got his attention on May 14 it looks like from the comic he has up (Part 2 of the Tesla Motors story). Looks like Mr. Musk followed through, and with a very nice sum. It's not the 8m that Oatmeal asked fro there, but I don't think he ever expected a single penny... To get 1m donated from one man is a massive step forward, and should be enough to do SOME work at the site and open something up.

I think it is technically the "goddamned Tesla museum"

eat it Edison

Why does something so new and without a whole lot of history need a Museum?

This isn't the Toyota Tesla!

This is Nikola Tesla the greatest inventor that ever lived.
Nikola invented the neon light for the 1893 World Fair In Chicago.
Edison had the patents for the light bulb and he would not let Nikola
use his light bulb for the fair because Edison didn't get the contract.
So Nikola invested a new light bulb that uses gases to create colors.

The reason no one ever heard of Nikola Tesla is because...
History is written from records left by the privileged – Zinn
