Flashing an IBM M5015 -> LSI 9260-i8... but what about the 'feature key'?

Hi all,

I procured an IBM M5015 RAID controller along with the advanced feature key which enabled RAID6/RAID60.

I am planning on flashing the card to become the 9260-i8 to reduce the boot time lag but - am wondering if anyone knows how this would affect the operation of the advance feature key.. Will it still work? Will I still be able to use RAID 6?

If anyone has an idea - please chime in!

Thanks :)

If you take a look at the sas2flash (utility used for flashing the cards) manual it might be able to answer your question. I would look at the pages pertaining to the erase command.

You could try it I guess

Erase controller

Flash firmware, minus the bios....

Boot and see if the array is still there..... If not add the bios back and see if it then appears.

.

I should clarify - no array, no nothing... the card is not even here yet so I would not be building an array until I finish flashing. I guess nothing to lose, eh?

See here for a lot of info about flashing/using the M5015 with various software versions (including IBM, LSI native and Dell H700 versions).

Looks like the key will work with the LSI SBR!
I am interested in this as well. Could you please report back after you have tested it?

I am assuming you would use the IR firmware for the card if you want to use raid features. I would like to know if the IR firmware works with the expansion key to offer r5/6.
