I thought Apple didn't allow any adult content on its app store? So why are they being probed by Chinese officials?

The People's Daily has fingered Apple, along with many other companies, in an investigation over X-rated content on Web sites and app stores, reports The Wall Street Journal. The iPhone maker has turned up on a list of companies being investigated in China over allegedly offering pornographic material through their Web sites or app stores.

Anyone else find the joy in the irony that The People's Daily is.. fingering apple.. over X-rated content?

...

What is considered "pornography" can be relevant to the culture and demographic.

That quote is hilarious though.

What is the Chinese obsession with Porn ... first they want a Chief Porn Officer ... now going after Apple ... if they didn't already ban most of the Google sites they would be going after them ... too much of the Confuscian virtues and one child policy I guess ;)

Someone downloaded a web browser from the app store and was able to reach a porn site with it. There ya have it! Porn in the app store! Just like how inanimate objects kill people.

If I read that correctly, the probe Apple needs to be concerned with is The People's Daily finger. :D

Getting probed by the Chinese doesn't really surprise anyone, does it?

Hm, I've wondered about it before, but this just adds to the evidence! The Chinese leaders are actually Aliens! I mean just look at how fond they are of probing stuff. ;)

It's probably some app with girls in bikinis or lingerie that's considered pornographic to the Chinese government. Very likely reason. I don't think pornographic apps get approved anyway and get past the iTunes App Store stringent requirements and approval.

I have never seen such apps. I think no mobile company will approve it.
