Can't update P8P67 Pro Bios

Really weird problem updating my bios. When I try use the Asus EZ Flash built into UEFI it repeatedly tells me that the bios file failed an integrity check. This is despite downloading the file (P8P67-PRO-ASUS-3602.ROM) multiple times from different locations, and using different USB sticks.

When I try to use the Asus Suite II bios updater it seems to work properly, then tells me to reboot, but upon reboot it shows that I've still got my old 1606 bios, not the newer 3602 bios I'm trying to update to. I'm completely dumbfounded at this point. Any ideas?
 
TBH the only thing I've been able to determine is that I don't have a Rev3 board. I bought it in early 2011 so I've forgotten any other specifics, and I don't have the box handy. Any tips?
 
B2. I take it that means I'm relegated to the 2XXX bios options?

Edit: moreover, what is the best bios (i.e. most updated/stable) to use with my B2 board?

I really appreciate all of the info guys. It looks like my 3gb ports already have failed, as I can't get anything to even register in bios when plugged into those ports. I thought only the 3gb ports were susceptible to failure?

I've tried to install the 2303 bios from http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_PRO/#download and yet for some reason the EZ Flash is giving me a file integrity issue again and when I try to use the Suite II software it tells me that "This model of the BIOS image does not match the BIOS ROM currently present." No idea what that means.

Did you rename the bios file? I just updated mine, and used the renamer utility from Asus and it worked fine.

*edit* mine is the Z77 but I thought maybe the process would be similar... maybe not
 
I didn't know I needed to rename it. In fact I thought that would cause trouble. Could you elaborate? Mind you I never successfully updated at all. I'm still on 1606.

You are correct the 3G ports fail - been so long I forgot - my bad

The bios renamer is for use by flashback program mode, Z77 mobo. Otherwise bios not renamed at all (just unzipped) in EZ Flash 2 from HDD. With Z77 mobo you can flash from bios file on NTFS HDD.

For P67 mobo:
Download bios from P8P67 Pro 3.0 site
unzip and rename to 2303.rom
Format USB 2.0 stick 8GB or less to FAT16 (FAT)
Place bios image on stick all by itself
Go to mobo manual and study I/O plate ports
You must place USB in an INTEL USB 2.0 port in back - no case ports
Then go in bios and set legacy USB 2.0 enabled and legacy USB 3.0 disabled
Then go to tools/ezflash2 and select and flash the bios image.
Then wait a few minutes, do the press F1 to enter setup and flash it again - if it allows..
Then do F1 to enter setup, set failsafe defaults shutdown and do a cmos reset.

There is no 1606 bios for B3 mobo
The prob is that there are no more downloads for B2 mobo online anyplace anymore, so I have no idea if there ever once was.

According to this the B3 bios will still work (but this was posted before Sandy Bridge LATER bios compatibilty became available)

Pre-B3 revision motherboard users can also download and use the new B3 revision BIOS, drivers and utilities. Go to the ASUS support site at http://support.asus.com to download the latest BIOS version.

Fwiw the ASUS folks will STILL replace those B2 mobo for B3 but since they are no longer in production (even B3) you may have to wait a few months for them to come accross one.

So try the flash.
BTW WHY do you want to flash?
Since Z77 LX mobo are $130, why are we doing this?

It will not. ME v8 is incompatible with B2 chipsets and even if you manage to flash new BIOS with FTK or hardware SPI programmer, ME will always be N/A, which renders the PC unusable.
Versions 2xxx, however, are compatible with B2 and I don't know why there are troubles with normal flash.

This may be the problem.

The reason I want to flash is thus- I just got a SSD and installed Win7 on it. I'm having trouble activating, so I need to use my DVD to upgrade Win7 on top of Win7 (silly I know). Unfortunately now I have a SSD, a DVD, and a HDD and all need SATA ports. Only my two gray SATA ports are recognizing anything plugged into them. The other 6 blue SATA ports are dead as doornails. I'm hoping the bios upgrade will fix this problem, but perhaps it won't. Any thoughts on that?

You didnt read what I said carefully.
You no longer can find any B2 bios of any kind on any ASUS site
I didnt say ANY B3 bios would work, I said at the time of the ASUS page being posted (Feb 2011), there were no 3xxx bios around, and wouldnt be for months.

As far as i can tell 2303 is the absolute latest B3 you can run on B2.
I also note two B2 users have 2303 bios and are running Ivy Bridge CPU with it somehow. One guy on AT with a 3770K and one guy on ASUS VIP with a 3570K, much to my surprise. Naturally when i asked them what ME shows in Main page, they both had already split. I guess I could PM the guy on AT. There is no PM on VIP.
 
That's what I was worried to hear. I can live without the ports, it will just mean having to jimmy with the cables every time I want to use the DVD drive.

Could you go into more detail about why the SATA ports won't even recognize the drive? From what I've read it sounds like the ports will degrade over time and lose performance, but I didn't expect them to die in their entirety.

Also from what I read on the ASUS site it looks like the gray 6g port and the 6G Marvell ports to the right of those should work (as seen here http://event.asus.com/2011/mb/identify_unaffected_sata_port/). Is that incorrect?

Yes, or no?

Only the 4 blue Intel blue ports are dead, the two blue Marvel have their own chip on mobo
But you have to enable the controller and oprom in onboard devices and load the drivers and set force bios on boot page options - not keep current.
 
I have no intention of buying a new mobo. I'm fine with 4 SATA ports, and I can make do with 2 SATA ports. I just need to figure out how to get these two Marvell ports working.
