Artist Makes Portraits Out Of Keyboards

I wonder how he made them. profile says he does them digitally.

it's just placing keys on a bitmap most likely, a lot of busy work, almost no creativity, but that's not to say the end result is worthless... unless he made a program that does it all automatically similar to any basic ascii art or cross-stitch map generator

Second pic, Morgan Freeman or that South African guy that Bono Loves?
Third pic, young Ron Jeremy or the Cowboy that went to Australia to snipe in the late 1800's, Quickly I think?

Given the sheer quantity he has produced, either he has no life or wrote a program to do it all. In the end they lose their appeal when you see hundreds of them and they all look like old GIF images from AOL circa 1996.

It'd be nice if there was an answer column telling who all those people are. :p

Definitely all computer generated.

He just built a database of cropped keyboard keys. Dump them in a folder, use a mosaic program, give input picture + database of small pictures to use as pixels.

Those programs usually automatically weight the color of the overall image to match it to a sub-pixel group.

Still a neat idea to use keyboard key caps.
