Hello,

I RMAd my fried mobo and they couldn't fix it, the shop I bought it at also doesn't have any more of them, so they're giving me my money back.

Before it died I was using it for a stable OC of a 2500k @ 4.5 GHz, and my GPU is a 570 GTX.

P67 Sabertooth is worth now exactly what they're giving me, so I think I'll go with it, but I'd like to know i there's anything better nowadays in this price range. I don't care about integrated GPUs or SLI, I want the best OC performance and stability for the money. I can also pay a bit more if it's really worth it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to buy an older-design P67 mobo at this point since nearly all of the motherboards based on that chipset are now EOL (End Of Life) as far as new production is concerned. Go with a new motherboard based on the newest Z77 chipset such as the Sabertooth Z77.

Yeah, I thought about it, but it's $60 more. I'm not planning on switching to Ivy Bridge and when I upgrade I always buy a new mobo anyway, so I don't want to futureproof. I just want the exact same performance I had with the Deluxe and maybe something extra.

Does the Z77 Sabertooth have something really great over the P67 one other than the Z77 features and PCIe 3.0?

Integrated USB3.0 that doesn't have strange issues from the chips they put on the 67 series.

The problem with P67 is that early revisions of that chipset suffer from failing SATA 3.0 Gbps controllers. And that's not to mention that motherboards based on that chipset are now EOL, so the only way to buy one at this point is used. And I would not risk the purchased of a used PC component due to the fact that some of them are in such poor condition that it might as well fail on you when you first power it on or after a very short time of operation.

Well, my store still has the mobos supplied. I understand these are what's left of all of them lingering in their warehouse, but still they're definitely not used, under warranty and all that. Also, I'm well aware of the early revision bug and my Deluxe was a rev3. :)

Anyway, if I decided to go Z77 - is the Z77 Sabertooth a good choice for my needs, or should I look at other options?
