Interesting 4p Memory Situation

I was initially running 16GB of G Skill DDR3-1600, CL9-9-9-24-1T memory, and I was getting a frame time of 16min 14sec on the 6903 wu.

I replaced the memory with 32GB of G Skill DDR-1333, CL7-7-7-21-1T memory; however, TPC is saying that the memory is running at 9-9-9-24-1T. I am now getting a frame time of 15min 58sec on the 6903 wu. An improvement of 16sec per frame.

The only other thing that I changed is that I am not using a local monitor and keyboard to start the FAH application. I am starting it via the NoMachine NX Client program on my laptop.

I'm not complaining about the 16sec improvement. I'm just surprised to see any improvement since both sets of memory are running with the same timings.

Such variations between (such big) WUs aren't unheard of.

To take advantage of XMP timings you need to reflash the memory.

I've been re-reading your posts about flashing the memory, and it does not sound that difficult. It always makes me nervous to do something like that though. Worried that I will mess something up.

I'm a mere reflection of my masters :D

From a distant galaxy, long, long ago, I hear a faint voice saying "tear, Use the force......uhhhh BIOS".
